Me too but there's a big variable. If the wife has veto power over the purchase, all research may just go out the window and the criteria becomes: Does it fit with the furniture? is it the right color? Will my husband kill himself on it? That last one is what drove my purchase of a B21. :confused2:

I may still kill myself.

Yeah, there is that.

Interesting thread, and interesting viewpoints...however, the Original Poster has made a valid point that has somehow been lost in the ensuing melee. Abbreviations, in my experience, are commonly used amongst professionals, or at least experts in a certain area of study as a matter of course; e.g., EPA in environmentalist terms is Environmental Protection Agency; PSD is Prevention of Significant Deterioration; BACT = Best Available Control Technology. I can use these terms with impunity among those in the profession, but probably most on this forum wouldn't get much past EPA.

It seems to me that the OP (Original Poster) should keep in mind his audience; if the post is likely to be read by the Newby, and you wish the inexperienced to glean any information from the post, perhaps you should spell it out for their benefit. The suggestion that there should be a list of definitions and acronyms is a very good one; and I would hope the moderators would take this and run with it. It would be very useful tool for all of us. I have been around tractors some, and I know what PTO means, but most of the other acronyms are unknown to me. Granted I don't get involved in the technical discussions much, but a readily available appendix would be a big help, at least to those of us who rarely use a SH or a LO.

If I come across an acronym that I don't know, I just open another tab and type 'vpl meaning' and voila, there it is. Me liked. ;)

With this as your sig. (signature), My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

I'm not sure I'll take that was a compliment.

yeah.. but that takes effort. ( minimal ).. and who wants people to actually have to do anything... ;)

I am using Crome for my Browser, with Google Dictionary. All I have to do when there is a word or acronym that I don't know is double click it and the definition shows above it.

TLA (Three-Letter Acronym)

Also use Urban Dictionary, September 13: generation xerox a lot :D
