I'm glad you brought that up. I had the same question about the steering rams. My PT has been feeling a little loose back and forth for the last year or two, doesn't make any repeatable noises but I've heard some shifty clunks in the past. Might be that bolt is toast.

It would be easy to find out. Lubricating the inner bolt isn't easy, which is why I posted the photo above. I think that given the usage, the bolt would really benefit from a high pressure lubricant, but one would want one that doesn't attract dust.
