Hmmm....work to fix something up, then sell it because the wife (soon to be ex) will want half. I have been through the divorce thing and learned that if something is worth more than its wholesale value, take it and the wholesale value will be alotted at the property settlement (for which you will owe the ex-spouse half).
My ex-wife cleaned out the house while I was at work. No bed, no furniture, no refrigerator, no washer, no dryer when I got home. We had just bought furniture 2 months before, now I was responsible for the bill, but only got half of wholesale value (which turned out to be half of the retail price). So my ex-wife got the furniture for half price.
Only sell it if you will need the money to pay off the rest of the property settlement.
