I'm trying to get things documented. LS (factory) has said there are no records of the past repairs, yet I have a few e-mails to the former dealer where we discussed the hydraulic failure and other issues. Apparently the former dealer made no effort to keep records.
Here's what LS had to say: RECEIVED FINAL RESPONSE FROM BUSINESS : LS reply to further allegations made by (name deleted)
I have received another complaint form from the BBB involving more unsubstantiated claims of problems. There are also allegations against a former dealers claiming poor record keeping. Much of this contains opinions, accusations and name calling.
The facts are : (1) There is no record of most of the claims made by (Name deleted).
(2)The current dealer indicated he tightened some fasteners on the joystick control. As mentioned earlier, the operator's manual advises to check daily for loose bolts, ETC.
(3) It has been stated earlier that there was some welding done because of damage from loose fasteners.
(4) Not only the current dealer, but also an LS service manager has inspected his tractor before returning the tractor to (name deleted) and both confirm there were no faults found at that time.
(5) As mentioned earlier, the brakes and related linkages were replaced as a safety measure even though no defect could be found at the dealership. The brakes have now been returned to LS for inspection. There is no fault in the brakes.
(6) LS Tractor has continued to support the dealer as the dealer has made efforts to address this customers fears and concerns, even though there have been no defective parts found.
In my opinion: There seems to be an effort on the part of (name deleted) to create other issues to further his claim of defects in the tractor. His tractor was inspected by our service manager and his dealer before being returned to (Name deleted). (Name deleted) alleges the instruments didn't operate when the tractor was returned. It is easy to unplug connectors to cause components to cease operation. It is easy to loosen fittings to cause a leak so it is reasonable to suspect this may be caused by the customer in the effort to make a list of issues.
There also seems to be an effort on the part of (Name deleted) to repeatedly contact the service manager and ask redundant questions. I am not sure why but I suspect he is simply attempting to be bothersome. The dealer indicates he has always answered to questions (Name Deleted) has had.

Now then, here's part of what the new dealer had to say:
Hydraulic leak was repaired before I bought the dealership, no warranty was filed, this leads me to believe that it was only a loose fitting. No power issues were found by the the previous dealer, the solution was to train the owner on proper use of the tractor, he was a very inexperienced operator for the functions that he was trying to use, no repairs were required, only training. Joystick was never broken, two bolts were tightened to correct this issue. The backhoe was welded twice as a courtesy to the owner. The owner's manual requires scheduled checks of all mounting hardware for the backhoe. The welds are not required but the dealer that sold him the tractor added the 1st weld as a courtesy. I noticed while I was at the tractor owners house, doing a free oil change for him, that the weld could have been a little cleaner and had it welded again at no charge to the customer, again as a courtesy.

The current dealer told me that a pin on the joystick had broken and it had to be replaced. (Word of mouth). Now the story changes to it being a loose nut or bolt. What am I supposed to believe?
So, LS isn't telling the whole story. I do have a good amount of documentation that clearly supports my side. This weekend I intend to get the local Sheriff's Dept out to my place and show them what has happened - especially in light that I've been accused wrongly by LS for vandalizing my own tractor.
BTW, do any LS owners - particularly of the LS XR series tractors have your original warranty information available? I started to look for mine, and I can't seem to find it. All I remember getting was the completed loan application forms the day of delivery. I'm wondering if a slick one was pulled on me then too.
George, LS doesn't want to do my warranty repairs. I've been given all kinds of hints that "You're too finicky with your tractor. You should be satisfied with it just like it is." Who in their right mind would buy a car and not want it right from the dealer? To me, there is no difference there and with my tractor. I paid for a new, unblemished tractor, and I didn't receive one. Therefore I want a full refund. Oh, and George, if you want my LS hats, I'm more than willing to give them to you. They've never been worn, just placed on bookshelf.
I had e-mailed the dealer and LS representatives. I told them about the dashboard and other things not working. They then went into their rant about me being too fussy. I was very deliberate in the questions I asked them, and they eventually stopped answering my e-mails. That's service for you.
Attorney has been contacted. Something about consumer protection laws come into effect. I will need to finish getting my documentation together and send to them. For one, I need to find my warranty agreement.
