Remote Hydraulics L3240

Pretty sure the factory remotes for the L3240 are a pretty nice setup with hard lines that you really would have a hard time replicating with a valve from surplus center.

I've got a surplus center valve - Prince SV stack valve - for my L3400 - but the 'factory' remotes on the L3400 just look like any ol aftermarket valve so this didn't bother me much.

With a L3240, I'd be going for the factory setup. I can see the first spool costing $750 or so but the next set of spools should be much cheaper that that.

I went to the dealership yesterday,it wasn't quite as bad as I understood, 2 rear remotes for $1200 and change. Still a pretty bad violation, but the valves are proprietary, I would have a hard time duplicating as clean a setup. The extra per month is pretty minimal.

Thanks for all the input, I'm planning on pulling the trigger tomorrow.

Your dealer might be doing the same as my dealer tried when I bought my L3130. The first remote setup is around $600 but the 2nd and third are cheaper, around $400 each. I paid $1300 for the full set (3) of remotes installed with the make ready of my tractor. You should be able to get close to that price or a little more.

Kubota makes it tuff to "redneck engineer" thier tractors. You just about have to use thier valves. I have a L4740 with two dealer installed remote valves. On my tractor, there is a plate on top of the lift cap that covers the remote valve pressure ports. To add the valves, this plate is removed and another plate (part 010 in the pdf file, which is part of the first valve kit) with the pressure lines is attached in it's place. These pressure lines bring the fluid to the remotes. Your first remote that you buy should be the most expensive one. The reason is because this mounting plate that I mentioned, the inlet, and the outlet is included. With the 2nd and 3rd valves, you do not need addtional plates, inlets and outlets, therfore they should be cheaper. The valves just stack beside each other. I would say that you should be able to get all three for around $1000.00

The only other option that you have is to find a place to insert what is called a "Power Beyond". However, you will need to tap into the pressure line somewhere and tap into the return line somewhere. If you decide to do this and not go with the factory valves, I suggest that you go with Prince stack valves. The reason is becasue if you ever want to add more valves, all you have to do is buy the valve section and another bolt kit to bolt them together. For example, if you want two valves now, you would buy a inlet, two valves, an outlet, a two valve bolt valve kit, the hoses, and quick couplings. However, if you want to add a third one, all you do is remove the bolts, add another valve, and a three valve bolt kit. I think you can add up to 10 valves together, and the prince valves are easially avaliable. The stack valves that Kubota uses are not made by Kubota, but I cannot figure out who made the ones on my tractor.

I attached a PDF file with the parts breakdown of the valves for my tractor. I hope this helps.

I see what you mean with regard to the factory remotes, they are a very nice, clean installation. Having said that I don't find the location of the valve handles all that handy. My old tractor had solenoids for control of the tilt and 3-pt, I mounted rocker switches in a small NEMA-rated enclosure on the fender, right where my hand would tend to sit when operating the tractor. I actually found that nicer than what Kubota has, the handles are too low and far back to be real convenient. I may get used to what's here, but I'm also thinking of using the power beyond port and tapping in a bank of solenoids, I'm going to want extra axes anyway. I need to study things out better, it hasn't been much over 10F all week, so looking into the finer details of hydraulic systems hasn't been real appealing.

Thanks for all the input.
