I'm new to TBN and to tractors, so I have been doing lots of reading and learning.

Having the dealer install remote hydraulic valve(s) sounds like a good option, but I don't know what the various valve types are nor how they would be used.

The Kubota web site lists "Standard", DV, and FD. I think I know what standard is, but what about DV and FD and when would you want those?

thanks for your help!

Welcome to TBN. I'm sure you've probably found lots of information on what they mean but maybe less on where you would use each one. I can't help you much because I really didn't know what I might need them for so I didn't get them. Only now am I trying to decide which I may want. I can say this, buying them with the tractor usually means a savings over adding them later. If it's a local dealer maybe you can work out a deal to have them installed later for the same price.

I think the DV would be used if you want to power something like a log splitter where you don't want to have to continually hold the lever for flow. The FD is a little harder, I'm under the impression if you have an attachment that rides along the ground and the tractor is basically just pulling it you want FD.

What are your plans for your tractor and what attachments do you plan on using? It would be easier to answer which choices would make the most sense.

Thanks (teg) for the link - I had not come across that thread during my browsing or searching.

crazyal - yes, I have found some of the info, but only part of the story. From what I understand:

Standard = holding lever one direction give flow one way, holding it the other direction flows the other way.

One of the other types is the "detent" which operates like the standard, but with a detent position that allows a cylinder to "float". I don't know if this is the DV or FD, and I don't know what the last type is.

I may go with a rear snow blower and having a hydraulic chute rotator would be handy. I believe the standard valve would be sufficient there.

I like the idea of the detent valve for controlling the top link cylinder to allow some attachments to float along the ground.

I know a lot of options can be added later, but in my experience I'm better off doing it all at once as it's hard to find the money at a later date to do something that would be "nice to have".
