I need to remove the roof and ROPS off my Kubota L39. I am aware of the safety issues with doing this but I need to know if the roof-posts are structurally required for the loader? The two front posts just bolt to the loader so I am assuming it isn't required. I just wanted to run this by someone before I remove it in case there is an issue.

Thanks-

Why do you NEED to remove them?

I find the full ROPS/FOPS one of the best features of my L45.

I believe there are bolts right above the FEL mount to remove the roof/support structure. The rear you might have to get all the way to the axle. You will definitely be compromising at least some of the structure of the machine.

I am looking at a l39 or l45 and figure if it don't fit in the 8 doors I may lower it a little.
I would remove it if you have a special project that calls for it being removed. Like cleaning a chicken barn or?? But I would not run it all the time as I think it improves the structure of the frame.

I need to remove it so it will fit in my remodeled beef cow barn. It barley fit before and we poured an additional 4" of concrete, so it won't fit now. I was planning to remove the roof and lower both the front and rear ROPS down to the bare minimum. I will reweld the bar that goes across the rear axle as well as the one that ties the loader arms together. I just won't be replacing the bars that run from the rear ROPS to the front support.

Probably should have used the L39 to dig that barn down deeper before pouring the concrete. LOL

Why not keep the bar connecting the two?

What about getting a smaller machine to use solely in the barn?

If you take them off be sure to save everything for the future. I doubt any dealership will work on the unit or take it in a trade in without the original safety devices that came standard on that year tractor. Our local J.D. Dealership will not even work on a lawn mower if the plastic discharge deflector is removed or altered.

I was going to get a B26 until I found out it would not fit under a 7' garage door header. Often In my construction use it is necessary to backfill garages or get into a basement through the garage door.
I was thinking of removal vs cutting down the ROPS however if the operator got hurt due to removal, Major liability issue!! I also thought once you alter it you void all Mfr. liability, warranty and destroy the resale.
I made a compromise and ordered the L3200 only to back to the dealer and upgrade to the L3800, I am just hoping it was the next best choice.
Do I sound like someone that can't make up their mind???

Have you thought about just letting the air out of the tires?

Looks to me like the two front posts are only structurally significant to the roof or FOPS (falling object protection system).

The ROPS is only the rear structure. The front arms are there to support the roof and are not roll over protection. Sounds like you are going to leave the roof off. Have you considered adding a hinge in the ROPS so you can fold it down to go into the barn? That way you do not lose any of the height and safety of the ROPS.

I debated about raising the roof a good 2 feet or digging the floor down. Both options were costly and had problems. Digging down would put me below exterior grade, raising roof would have hit the phone lines that run over that building. I have smaller 7510 that fits in there fine, but it won't dump into the spreader.
