I finally have had enough of the fuel and tempertaure gages working intermittenly and decided to pull the instrument panel only I can't get the steering wheel off. I removed the big nut but don't see any way to attach a puller. Has anybody done this?

I have pulled my JD 4200 steering wheel using a tie rod fork and a hammer, after remiving the nut and the spacer rings. You a correct a puller does not have any place to gain a purchase. The wheel has a metal lower section and the flange is metal so the tie rod fork and a big hammer work fine.

I think you can do it the way we used to pull car steering wheels when I was a teenager (prehistoric times) if you have a helper. Back that big nut off so that the top of the nut is just barely above the top of the spindle so you can't damage the threads. Then with one person pulling up as hard as possible on the steering wheel (hands 180 degrees from each other), the other person gives that big nut a sharp rap with a hammer. It should pop right loose.
