Removed the FEL

Yeah, it is really nice to mow with it off. Only way I do it. The L series is amazingly easy to remove as well.

All I can say is, WOW. I have had my 2630 for only a couple of days and I was worried about how difficult it would be to remove the FEL. I mowed a bit with it on and realized I would prefer not to but I was worried it would be hard to remove. I read the instructions and had it removed within a couple of minutes. Definitely will keep it off and just install it whenever I need it. Amazingly simple.

Now I'll interject some red. I take mine off for mowing or servicing etc. It takes about a minute to remove if you don't hurry, and about the same to reinstall. p.s. The backhoe takes about the same.

no need to feel intimadated with removing, reattaching the FEL and/or BH. 5 mins at most for both. Just watch some utubes videos form messicks on BX removal and you will already be an expert from watching.

I connect/disconnect my FEL twice or more a day when mowing, need a "wheelbarrow" (who needs to push a stinking wheelbarrow when you got a FEL?) and then finish up mowing or something by removing the FEL again.

Since it feels like second nature, I don't even think about it anymore- just go do it, it really doesnt take any time, in fact I think its faster then getting a wheel barrow.

That's funny, I often lovingly refer to my tractor as my "4-wheel-drive 30HP wheelbarrow". :)

I remove mine just about every week to mow, simple but I usually forget to lower the stands before putting the bucket down. As for the oil loss from the disconnects I am considering changing to FF or flush face style couplings. These are used for many hydraulic tools to eliminate the drop of oil when you disconnect-just a slight film of oil left on coupler. Also will prevent dust and grime from accumulating around the caps and plugs. Caps and plugs not much good if they are always full of dirt.

Have yet to remove our FEL from the L3940 because we use it everyday for
feeding cattle. I'd like to try it but haven't really had a need to use the tractor
without it.

It is really hard to appreciate how easy this is until you do it.

I like to remove mine when doing maintenance, blowing out screens and such. I am really uncomfortable gaining access to the engine compartment by raising the FEL.

I agree... It's actually the first thing I did when I took delivery just to learn "the hard way". The paint must have been so new in the hinges that it didn't want to pop out so I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then it popped out finally.

I've since done it about 5 times in 2 weeks. Getting better! Just hope I don't drive off without remembering to unhook the lines... yikes! :)

I have noticed getting it on sometimes the right side hinge wants to not be so cooperative, but playing with the joystick gets it to where it needs to be (hmmm.. that could be taken out of context.. haha!)

I can think of about three replies, but not gonna do it; wouldn't be prudent.

Kosby - Can you post some pics of your 3200 w/out the FEL on? How many hours you got on that puppy? Looks emaculate.

I'll show you mine :), 100hrs.

I dropped mine for the first time this weekend. I'm new to the tractor (L3430) and the loader (Woods 1012). The Woods manual is light on instruction. It almost went OK... my mistake was parking in the carport. When I was mounting it back on the bucket crept too close to the wall. Nerve wrecking to be mounting for the first time with 6 inches to play with! Until I get used to the process, I'll be dropping it with plenty of room. Other than the wall, it seemed to go pretty well for the first time. I'm sure I'll learn the little 'tricks' to aligning quickly after several more cycles. Also, I think HST would be helpful in mounting (I have GST). Overall, it's woth the trouble to be able to run around without that big nose cone if you are not using it.

Posted on another thread, this one more to the point. My B3030 has a L403 that is supposed to be quick on/off; however, if not parked on completely level ground (concrete pad, for example), good luck with the "quick" part! The arms will not disengage from the bottom pins. It took me 35 minutes to detach the FEL, using methods not specified in the manual. I'm dreading the Fall when I have to put it back on. My tractor barn has a dirt floor, it's hard to park completely level. I have a feeling I'm going to be hoisting that FEL in order to get it back on.
