I'm expecting my B2410 with FEL and mid-mount mower to arrive any month now. In the meantime, I'd like your opinion about whether this is a safe way to remove and reattach the mower.

I'd like to pick up the front end of the tractor on a low strong shelf that is wide enough for the mower to fit under it. I figure it will be a lot easier to roll the mower forward than sideways even on a concrete floor. I've never used a FEL, and I'm not sure if this could be done safely. In case the description isn't clear, I've included a sketch.

Thanks, Will

Will; May not be necessary. The way my RCK60B deck is (BX), Kubota made it simple. The deck wheels easily unlock (pull a pin), pivot and relock so that the deck easily rolls in the perpendicular direction. If they engineered the B2410 decks the same way, it's amazing how easy it is to attach/detach and move something so heavy.

Yeah Will, Like Roy said, the wheels that the deck ride on swivel. So when you disconnect the two lift points, disconnect the front link and driveshaft, (and pick up the center wheel so the front of the deck is riding on the anti-scalp wheels) the thing just rolls right out with next to no effort at all.

Quite an easy on-off design!

But I will mention. . . . once the deck is off, you will need the FEL if you want to 'pick it up'.

Ground surface seems to be a critical issue here. I removed mine on the soft, some what muddy ground, and I had a heck of a time. It looks like the Kubota will be taking over the basketball court for use as a maintanance bay!

I had a belly mower on my old B1750 and found the easiest way to shed the implement was to put the bucket on the ground, then put it in the dump position to lift the entire front of the tractor off the ground. Disconnect the mower and it rolls right out to the side.

Another way I tried and liked (this was in the owner's manual) was just to disconnect the mower, block its wheels, and back up right over it. Was a little reluctant at first, but the procedure was right there in writing, and the front end even with FEL was light enough so nothing was damaged. I used this method most often because it worked just fine in dirt.

As for storing the mower when not in use, I simply rolled it to the back of the garage and stood it up on its back end against the wall. It was heavy, but light enough for me to manage this by myself.

I have a B7100 with a 60" mid-mount. The easiest way I've found to install / remove the deck is to simply block the mower wheels and drive over the deck. Clean, easy, and less than 10 minutes to install or remove. Driving off the front of the deck the first time with a 6"-8" drop is just a bit un-nerving, but sometimes you just gotta live on the edge.
