I recently purchased a L3830 w/BH90.

I've dug and dug and dug. Now I want to play with my box blade, but I can't get those two big pins out to release the upper portion of the hoe. Í must be doing something wrong. I've got no dealer near by and I figured you guys could help.
thx

I have a Bradco 11 ft hoe that sometimes can be a chore. Place the bucket flat on the ground and you will have to learn to roll bucket a little, sometimes move one stabilzer and sometimes add a little pressure to the dipper stick. You'll have to try this until it releases enough pressure in order to pull pins. Coming off isn't too hard for me however mounting can take a little time as I dis-mount in the field. After a while the jacks and such like to sink half an inch or so, necessitating a few movements with the various controls until all lines up perfectly again.

I have a Woods backhoe and only use the boom to take the pressure off the bolts. I don't use the pads at all. The subframe has two hooks on the bottom that the BH sits into. The top has to bolts that have to slide through the BH and subframe.

Use the pads to set/remove the BH in the bottom hooks only. Once thier sitting in the hooks you only need to roll the BH back. If you watch closely you can see the pressure come off the bolts as you slowly move the boom.

Thats what I do, not sure if your hoe uses the same type of mounting or not.

Sounds like you guys have exactly the same system that my BH90 has. The directions are very similar, but I can not seem to get enough force on the pins to drive them inward. It appears the only option would be to pop the wheels off in order to get a straighter shot at the pins. Is there a "simple" technique or trick here? I was able to slide the pins flush with the outside of the frame, but after that...thx

Man - I feel your pain. I own a L3430 with a BH90. This must be a BH90 built in "feature". I even had my dealer put the pin on his lathe & take a hair off the pin - this made the problem a little better, but not fully.

What I do is get the back tires 3" off the ground using the dipper, then I place the boom lock pin on the quick attach pin and hit it a few times with the hammer. You may need to move the tread on the rear tire to gain a better angle on the quick attach pin. Once the quick attach pin has moved a bit, I just keep rocking the quick attach pin back & forth until it works itself out.

Sorry no better solution - maybe next time you do visit your dealer, have him take a very little bit off the quick attach pin.

Good luck!

Cheer up AK Kubota, I too have a BH90 which was a real bear to take off the 1st time. However, I persisted the 1st time with a little help from a hammer (it also helped to find a flat spot for the operation). Once I got it off I coated the pins with grease and the operation has become routine. I use my 4330 for construction and on the farm so I've had to take the backhoe on/off about 6 times this summer. I've come to love the hitch set up.
Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will go for it again. I just have had some previous bad experiences when applying too much force to "things." It sounds like its just a tough fit. I will try some grease after its off and if that doesnt cut it, I'll take it in and have it turned down a bit.

Just saw this thread.. I just got my BH-90 (on a 3130) this week and had no problem getting the thing off the tractor.. getting it back on was a bit of a chore.. aligning and all.. but the pins slipped out with absolutely NO difficulty.

make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.. curl the bucket all the way in.. tuck the boom in.. and then lower it until the rear tires actually lift up a bit (stabilizers are off the ground about 10 inches during all this). Then the pins should just slip right out.. no resistance at all.. similar to the pins on the 723 loader.

ps.. when you go to reinstall.. that's when you have to play a little.. the pin journals don't want to line up exactly.. you have to use the stabilizers to get the journals properly aligned before you drop the lower pins all the way into the slots.. The instructions say to get the pins down in the slots first.. ain't gonna happen.. at least it didn't for me.

are you doing it on a level and hard surface like a driveway or on the dirt. If the ground isn't flat and parallel with the tractor, it is going to take some maneuvering to get everything lined up. I had the same problem when I went to look at a used BX that had the hoe off of it and the hoe was in the back yard on very unstable ground. It took some wiggling, but it did go on. Now that I have my own BX and have practiced the mounting and dismounting a few times, it is very easy. Only thing that I don't care for is the oil that comes out of the disconnects.....

Actually, I did it in the garage (concrete floor) because I had seen the note in the Kubota manual about having it on a hard flat surface.. every time I dropped the lower pins in the grooves.. the journals would be off to one side or the other.. after knocking some paint chips off the journals.. I decided to align the top close before dropping the lower pins.. and it worked..

even with my problems I had the BH off.. the 3pt back on.. then took the 3pt off and put the BH back on .. in a total of about a half hour.

I just wanted to see how much there was to it..

I hope to get the hang of it after attempting it a few more time.. I really need my box blade on there for some driveway (gravel) levelling before the snow flies... so I've got to take off the BH soon..
