Removing/Controlling Poison Ivy

Yeah, we are going to boxblade it, so that should hopefuuly remove some of the ivy. The rest we will have to spot with chemicals. Keep the info coming as I may try to eradicate it more in the spring and when we move out there I will try to get as much out as possible.

When I was growing up in South Texas, I always remember having to pull up the vine, roots and all, before the ivy was completely dead. Seems to me that the little bulb end on the begining root section of the vine is the "brains" of this toxic plant and until you remove this, you'll really never rid yourself of this nightmare. I'm glad I never had a reaction to this stuff, but knew plenty of people that did. If you look over in the homeade weed killing thread you'll find some more good suggestions. Best of luck.

The herbicide Brash works good, it has some dicambria in it to go after the woody plant nature of poison ivy, and might would do good as a cut surface poison, just never have tried it that way. Brash does a number on Locust trees also.

We will have to do some spot killing with herbicide in our food plot I think. We ended up not boxblading, just brushhogging to dirt and then discing it. Hopefully we can use herbicide to keep it down in the food plot.

We have plenty of other areas we are going to need to dig, chemical it out.
