Removing Loader from DK45 for the first time

Decided to remove my loader for the first time today. Usually I just remove the bucket. Will be mowing in an unfamiliar area tomorrow so wanted as much visibility as possible.

Took only about a half hour. Only hold up was that I could get one pin loose but the other was tight. Finally took the loose pin out and then gently tapped the bucket lever up and down to find the sweet spot and then the other pin came right out.

Didn't notice until I disconnected the hydraulics that there are not any dust covers like there are on the rear ones and BH. Thought about wrapping the hoses and stuffing the receptacles with rags or paper towels but both tend to leave lint and/or fall out. Any suggestions?

Also remembered something about a valve needing to be changed. Nothing about it in the loader manual, but it is in the main manual. I mention this as it could be easily forgotten.

I have not tried again. I will be using the loader tomorrow moving gravel around the house and in the driveway. When I get done, maybe I will try again. Appreciate the info though. To be honest with you, I don't think I have enough patience to spend a half hour trying to get the loader off each time. I take that back, I know I don't have enough patience. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I agree about protecting those hoses. I seem to remember somewhere on here someone fabricated some type of protective caps?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I can't remember who it was, but I thought it had something to do with protecting the lines when disconnected. Someone help me out here. I believe I seen it in the NH forum.

I beleive Tractor Supply (or similar stores) carry quick coupler dust covers. They should be easy to find and little $.

I probably wouldn't have that much patience either, but since it was my first time I didn't think that was too bad. I am one of those type of persons that can easily spend two hours doing a half hour job /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. Hopefully next time it won't take but ten minutes or so /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Since I plan to be mowing long before TSC opens tomorrow, I will tie a zip lock bag around them for now.

Shouldn't be anything you need to do with a valve... Just take the loader off and go to work. What page you looking at in the manual?

Next time you take that loader off it will go much faster. It takes a few longer the first time just to learn all the tricks. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

With years of farming experience, my connections have stayed cleanest by stuffing half (or a whole) a paper towel into the recepticle and just let the hose end dangle. When you reconnect, pull the paper towel out, use it to wipe the hose end, and toss the towel on the ground. Plugs and caps seam to need as much cleaning as the parts they are supposed to keep clean.

Jon, In the owner's manual on page 31, top of page;

 When implement is not attached
To prevent overheating and damage to the hydraulic system once an implement is detached, be sure the control screw is turned back to the "horizontal position". 

My wording in the original post calling the control screw a valve is misleading and I apologize for that. This screw is located on the Hydraulic Block Type Outlet located just under the floor of the tractor on the left side.

These "Korean English" manuals leave a lot to be desired. Am I misreading something?

You acutally won't need to turn that screw, just don't move the control lever once you take the loader off. A good way to prevent this is to lock the control joystick, which is much easier than turning the screw. From the factory they come with the screw in vertical position, even before the loader is mounted. I've acutally never looked for the screw on the DK45s, DK55 or DK65 tractors.
