You're an adult , do as You please (within the law ) . I don't know why You'd need to ask a forum for a blessing .

Just askin for conversation sake. Never know when someones going to point out that it's structural or something and the fenders collapse if you take it off. My luck.

So West Sunbury! You gonna come down and help me lift it? :)

We folded ours down some time ago and it's been down ever since. The tractor
won't fit under the cow sheds or in the barn entrance with it up. If we're out
moving serious dirt or if my son is loading round bales it'll go back up. Too bad
they didn't make it a bit easier with pull-pins or something instead of fine
thread bolts with retainer cables on them, those cables will probably get cut
they get in the way when turning the bolts, I can store them in the toolbox.
If you use some common sense you shouldn't need it but there's those times
when you go just a little too far. Going across even a slight slope scares the
you know what out me in any of our 6 tractors, only 3 have ROPS, the L3940,
the IH 686 has a canopy ROPS and the CaseIH 5140 has a cab. The IH 574, the
IH 140 and the Farmall Super H has no ROPS at all. No one around here takes
chances or pushes things to the limit.

I guess I'm from the old school...Perhaps it was my military service or the construction trade I've enjoyed for over 35 years...One can never be too safe...My ROPS will be left on, and intact...To each his own.

Well, let me tell you from experience, you can find my posts in the Owning \ Operating and Kubota Owning\ Operating forms this evening, the only reason I am able to type this now is because of my ROPS, I rolled my tractor this evening and I don't have a scratch because the ROPS kept the tractor from coming on over on top of me, I was not operating on steep ground, just a freakish situation where everything came together at the wrong time, if you fold your roll bar down to get it in your garage, I would suggest you take you take the few minutes it takes to raise it up even on flat ground, strange things can happen when we let our guard down for just a second, I am now a believer in ROPs.

I'm glad to hear that you're ok. I sure that was a flash in time that you'll never forget.

No matter that I grew up driving tractors without ROPS, no matter that my property is level, (except for a nasty bank out front that I have allowed to return to nature) and no matter that I will not trim up my trees to point of silliness just so my 'Bota can pass under them, and no matter that on no occasion have I ever felt the need for the ROPS, still.....

If you do decide to remove them, you'd probably want to store them in the loft for a future date. Re-selling a tractor without them would be akin to trying to re-sell a car today, sans the seat belts and air bags.
Don't get rid of the FEL cause it may make it hard to sell the tractor someday with out it.
