Removing Sidewalk to Nowhere

I joked with my wife that I was just going to put a refrigerator at the end of the sidewalk as a conversation piece. The electrical drop was there and everything. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

As Bill mentioned, I'd rent an electric jackhammer. The previous owners of our house had plans to install a brick outdoor grill. They got as far as the concrete base for it, which I broke up with an electric jackhammer and a wheelbarrow (before tractor). When I told the rental place what I was going to use it for, the only question they asked me was "How far away from an outlet are you?" They wanted to make sure that if I used an extension cord, it was heavy enough so as not to result in too big a voltage drop.

well i like the electric jackhammer idea best, i think that would work better than a concrete saw. pallet forks work pretty good too, a few months back a friend up the street was going to break up a 10ft long section of sidewalk. he had just gotten out his electric jackhammer when i stopped by, he told me what he was doing so i said, hmm i could use that piece of sidewalk to put infront of the doorway of my goats barn so it isnt such a big step up and to keep the mud to a minimum. so i got my tractor and my 3pt pallet forks, tilted them down with my hyd toplink and slide them under the slab which was around 5 inches thick, lifted up and the whole piece came right out and i carried it home with ease, set it down where i wanted it and was very pleased, all with virtualy no hand labor

Pete , Make sure you get a Chisel(sp ) bit . The bits that are very pointed seem to get stuck easily. Also, as you break up the concrete , remove it . If You don't it'll tend to bind up nthe jack hammer . John
