Removing tiny stumps

I use a Brush Grabber to pull out small stumps. Works best if you have a helper to hook up the grabber to the stump and release it when pulled and on to the next stump. The heavier the tractor the better.

No helper needed with mine. Just sit on the seat and clamp and flip em out. The helper starts to complain after about the 20th hookup. Let alone a thousand.

I could make fast work of that with the puller on the CTL. 2” stumps for it is child’s play.

I did some today. Using the brush blade on my Stihl Kombi weed eater.

There is a circular saw blade offered for it that has chisel teeth that I might get.

I have heard of using a circular saw blade on a weed eater also.

Also a battery operated sawzall with a demolition blade is what I've used on problematic roots.

I would use my grapple brush grabber attachment to grab and flip them out. If there is enough left to grab onto. Maybe 3 inches or so.

I looked at brush grubber products long and hard 2 years ago. I decided against them because I had cut the trees too low and because a lot of people said it was just as much work as some other methods.

They do make a unit that attaches to your 3 point or sleeve hitch and allows you to back up and automatically clamp onto the target. You don't need to get off to attach it to the stump. I still have more trees to cut so I might cut them at 2 feet high and buy one of those.

I have a "Beaver Blade" for my Stihl weed eater:

Beaver Blades | Trimmer Parts | MFG Supply

I cut some of the trees using it. Problem with that is , it's a chain saw chain so if you contact the ground it will get dull very quickly.

You need one of these to pull thru the ground. It will uproot 90% of the root and stump. Then a pass with a bush hog to shred everything up.

It sounds like you have Sumac trees. I try to keep areas they invade mowed low but they come back for years. A good Stihl weed trimmer with the 3 pointed brush blade swipes them off easily too, as low as you want to cut them.

I like it but my 20 horse Steiner says no.

Not sumac, I wish they were, those are easy to pull.

These things are very woody, very tough.
