( I dont think that was an option, that was when the discussion was focused on lowering the pole to save the light. Trying to use the tractor to gently lower the pole, but if you could get the chain high enough and be far enough back to do this then you could pull the light down. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )
Boy this has been interesting! Going to be careful (after all these years) using a chain to jerk a tractor out of the ditch.

I really don't care about the lamp fixture, but I didn't want the glass bulb and shade flying everywhere. Interestingly, even though the pole still has the utility company tag on it, they didn't offer to remove it. They just told me I could do anything I wanted with it.

The bad news is I have new tractor fever. Told my wife that the only save way to remove the pole was to get a new tractor with a BH! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good luck with that fever /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I have been using a come a long with my chains every time I get my tractor stuck. Tarp over the come along at the chain and flannel over the chain. Of course its a 1500# Kubota but it usually will pop right out. Of course its only got 44 hours on it and I havnt tried to hit the mud at speed. Oh wait the suns out and its 75 deg I guess my rainy seasons over.

Come to think of it you could have moved this to the safety thread /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of flesh.

Lights are supper cheep (yard lights) cut the pole and go to home depot and buy a 30.00 yard light. also these poles are normally treated. so if you got a project that needs pileings.dont just cut into firewood should be able to get 4 x 6' peaces out of it. theres prob 4' 6' of pole in the ground. these kind of yard lights are normally fed with romex just scratched into the ground. make sure you find the old power source and make sure its dead. you dont need a live voltage just out there sitting. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I recently bought a good 1/2" Sampson rope and read the instructions that came with it carefully

I am not by any means trying to be a smart arse but this just struck me as being hilarious. Were there really instructions with a Rope? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
