Rental Upgrade Kit?

Has anyone purchased the "Rental Upgrade" accessory kit available for their 4000 JD CUT? I found it while browsing for a backup light for my 4600 and saw that this kit provided armor and electronics covers designed to protect the tractor from rental damage.

I was curious if anyone had purchased it and if this was Deere's answer to better armor protection for the CUT units.

You are on the right track!

remnant is a poster that did this and posted Info and Pics Some of the stuff that comes in the kit is probably not gonna get used (C range lockout...) It seems like a good way to go, though. I know I need to get one, too.

I'm thinking that this should fit the 4600 also, right? If so, I will probably get the kit this spring since I'll be doing alot more work in the field with rock, etc.

I am pretty sure that you would need the LVB25105 Rental upgrade kit. I looked it up on JDParts. Of course, your parts guy can make sure that's right

I can't find a 4610 version. A good parts guy can tell you if one exists. A good tech should know if a 4610 version will fit. There is a good chance the skid plates will fit, or be easily adapted....

I ordered this on my 4210, I had seen 3 different units in
dealers with their belly's torn out, wiring, or hydraulics.
Minimum bill was $300 and went up from there.

This should be standard equipment.

I didn't have them install the backup alarm or the high gear
lockout.

I also ordered the armor kit for my loader cylinders, lines
and hood.

As I've posted before, sometimes when I stop by the Kubota dealer
to get something for my L35 I wander around looking at tractors.
Typically the dealer (any of them it seems) if they hear JD
will start with the "Oh those plastic hoods"

I tell them I was going to get a Kubota but when I found
they only had 1/8" metal hoods I bought the CUT JD that
comes with the 1/4-3/8" hood. I mean why buy a tractor
that dents up when a boulder falls on it /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

That usually sends them off mumbling... (sorry, I must
have a cruel streak)

I did notice in the most recent JD 4XXX brochure that they show the "Extra Armor" kit. The brochure states that the pieces are available as separate items. Not to be intentionally cynical, but it would be a good idea to find all the part numbers before talking to the dealer. My dealer operates at a very high level of customer orientation, but we often go through a little research project when I'm looking for a gizmo or gadget.

Extra Armor is what they call the parts for the top (the shiny green side) Rental Upgrade covers the bottem (the dirty black side)

I had no problem finding the discontinued 4600 part number, but can't seem to find a current part. I don't know, but I bet dealers can locate obselete parts. That might be the best bet....

I was just doing some work of my own on JDParts, and almost EVERYTHING is coming up "Part is Obsolete" So check with yer dealer....

Just found the 2003 brochure.

Xtra Armor Protection Package

Designed for heavy-duty loader usage, the Xtra Armor package guards the hood, lights, grille, hydraulic couplers and cylinders.

The same page lists the Rental Package as including a Back-up Alarm and a C-range Lockout, but no armor.

I know this doesn't help find the part numbers, but it sounds like JD is discontinuing some of these items. I kinda' like the idea of the extra security of the hood guard and plates. The again, when I get a new car I immediately go out and buy generic floor mats to cover my styled floor mats /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
