Repair Manual

Hi All,

I'm looking at picking up a Repair Manual for my TC40D. However, I've noticed that the CD version for the TC40D is $83.33 and the CD version for the TC40DA is $333.87. Why the big difference? The paper manuals are a bit closer in price $289 vs $342, but just want to make sure I'm getting the right one.

My guess would be becuase the TC40D is no longer in production. The
manuals for NH tractors no longer in production seem to be much cheeper.

Not much help, but a couple of years ago, I found a place on the "net" that had the service manuals listed for around $100-$150 range. I ordered one for my 1715, ($110 + shipping) and also got a nice supplement manual free of charge. I just skimmed through the big manual, and it appears to actually be a New Holland manual. Lots of pics, easy to understand, lots of safety stuff (naturally). No mention of a printer, publisher, etc. Only named mentioned is New Holland, but I bought it from a distributer who had manuals for many makes of tractors. Friend went to same site, and bought one for his Case IH. His memory is worse than mine, can't remember the site, and he misplaced the manual not long after getting it.
I remember going to GOOGLE, and typing in tractor service manuals. sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks for the info. I looked on eBay before posting but searched for TC40D and didn't get that hit. Seems like the CD for $88 is better then even the eBay version for $145 or so. I'll google for tractor manuals as well.

I paid $275.00 for a paper version in a binder 2 years ago for a TC35. I believe its well worth having a printed copy that can taken right to the tractor. The price may seem high but at $60.00 an hour shop rates it will soon pay for itself.

I think a CD might be handier. I have the printed form and always make a copy of what I take to the pole barn because of greasy fingers. It might be easier just to print from the CD instead of scanning the manual.

I read this thread and thought $83 sounded like a great price. I picked up the phone and called customer service, She said "I must warn you that these CD's are password protected so that you can view the pages on your computer BUT YOU CAN NOT PRINT THE PAGES" I assume that the viewer they supply on the CD does not have a print button. Why could I not do a screen capture (ctrl/shift/print screen) and paste into a program that will print the image or if just words do a copy/paste. This is a question for those of you who already have a CD. Can you print from your CD??

Good question farmacist. I haven't ordered the CD yet and I'd like to hear from others about this print issue before I do. Yes, you could do a "screen print" but you would lose resolution / quality. Boy, the inability to print would be a problem for me.

I apparently have a defective TC18 manual on CD then because I can print out any page I want to . The CD is password protected, but that is for bringing up the pdf viewer and document to begin with. The print function of Acroread seems to be fully functional. The only real gripe I have with the CD is that the viewer is Acroread 5 which is woefully behind on features, and because of the password protection, you can't use a newer version of Acroread to view the manual.
