I read this thread and thought $83 sounded like a great price. I picked up the phone and called customer service, She said "I must warn you that these CD's are password protected so that you can view the pages on your computer BUT YOU CAN NOT PRINT THE PAGES" I assume that the viewer they supply on the CD does not have a print button. Why could I not do a screen capture (ctrl/shift/print screen) and paste into a program that will print the image or if just words do a copy/paste. This is a question for those of you who already have a CD. Can you print from your CD??

I've been unable to copy/cut text from a pdf.

I've got several manuals on cd. some are protected pdf.. but I can still print from them..

Well we are going to find out how the CD works because I just ordered one for $83.33 plus $7 shipping. It is supposed to get here in a week and I will post on this thread how it works and if we can print from it, so just wait a week and we will all know. I did try a screen capture on a pdf and that works so at the very least if they have disabled the print function on the CD then I expect that I can still print a page using a screen capture. Frank

Well, I got my CD #86618104-CD , cost $89 with shipping, took 4 business days via FedEx, Remember that customer service DID tell me on the phone that I could not print or EMail from this program, Inserted CD, typed in password included on case and up came the complete contents for the 3 volume set of repair manuals. The CD is password protected and runs off acrobat reader 5.1 (on CD and CD runs off this copy). On the bottom of the acrobat screen is a gold key which lights up with the statement "document is encripted". CD works smoothly, you can bring up any section or page and view or enlarge. BUT I can NOT print or do a screen capture. When I click "print" it copies to the print que, loads to the printer, the printer clicks and the printer icon shows on the taskbar for about 2 seconds then the whole process fizzles and goes away without even a whimper. If I try a "print screen" it seems to copy but there is nothing in the clipboard to paste, Copy and paste does not work. If I shut down the NH adobe program (thats on the CD) I can then print or printscreen other stuff from other places just fine. I tried using Windows explorer or my computer to drill down on the CD and double click on one of the section.pdf's. It opened in my acrobat 6.0 but I still could not print or printscreen. I would say they have done a "good" job at inactivating the ability to print a page and bring it to the garage for reference. Any ideas????????????? Frank

try a 3rd person softwere "print screen" package... (freeware/shareware thing)

while crude it does work....

you can always take a pic of the screen with a digital camera. This can be "quick" if you have a decent web cam.

a third option is a non adobe version of a PDF reader. another "version" may not support the same level of security (ie print screen may work, although the file-print button is still likely NOT to work)

Well after a week of "playing" with my Repair Manual CD I have found the following. 1- I can NOT copy the CD so I could make a "backup CD". 2- I CAN do a screen copy using "Paint Shop Pro 6.0" but I can NOT do a print screen with any programs that use Windows Clipboard. I am sure that you could find many other "screen capture" programs that would work. Using Paint Shop Pro I can print any page, very convenient. However for the Internet police info I want everyone to know that as soon as I mistakenly printed one of these pages I immediately took the page to my shredder and I will never do it again.
