Tractor
Mahindra 4530
Just curious if I am being a bit too demanding or unreasonable. I took my 4530 in for the 50 hr service and to get them to look at a hydraulic problem and after a week I call to check on the status and I'm told they "might" get to it next week. Seems to me that I can take my truck in for repair and it might stay there two days tops. Minor stuff is usually fixed by lunch time if you get it in early. Am I expecting too much and is this normal or do I need to haul this thing to another dealer?

Dealer is J-5 in Normangee, Texas
Not too impressed with the service after the sale at this point.

Did you make an appointment for the repairs before you took the tractor in? If you took the tractor and dropped it off without an appointment, and the dealer has a backlog of work, your tractor gets put on the end of the list at that time. If you made an appointment for when you dropped the tractor off, I would have to agree with you. Discuss the issue with your dealer and good luck with it.

Was this the dealer you bought it from?

Yep this is the place I made the purchase. I will have to remember that appointment thing. Never thought about that. Sort of figured that if I bought it there, I would be at the front of the line instead of all those green, orange and lesser red tractors.

Seems very odd. A 50 hour sevice doesn't take long, and return customers are very valuable! If it were my shop, I'd have a tech work some OT and get 'er done! Talk to the owner.

Well Dave, just in case some people haven't put 2 & 2 together yet, that is yet another reason that you have & continue to be so successful.:D But alas there are so few like you.:(

Welcome TXAG to TBN. I've seen that place a few times when we went to visit my daughter at A&M (she's class of 05). I often thought of stopping, but never did. What kind of hydraulic problem are you having? Some of the other owners here may be able to help out. And as some have said, there's a lot of farmland down there in that area, and this time of year is pretty busy with all the haying and such going on. Hopefully they'll get you going soon. How do you like the unit so far?

I bought my 5500 from there. I haven't had to have any service done but I'd call and ask questions. They were good to me, no problems and could get me what I needed.

Love the tractor. It has done everything I have asked of it and more. Pulling down trees that I really should have dug more around and stuff like that. (even pulled a chain in half)

The hydraulic problem was mostly with the FEL. Movement of the joystick would not move the bucket. It was like I would have to find a particular "sweet spot" to get any movement at all. The lifting power was still there since I was moving round bales with it but just starting the movement is the problem. I called the next closest dealership in Conroe and was told that I have to have warranty work done at the place I made the purchase so either way I'll have to do business with J-5. As far as calling for questions, last time I called and my 3 pt would not lower the answer I got was to hit it really hard with something heavy. Sounded like something I would come up with not a person that actually fixes things.

Sounds unusual to me but we only work on Mahindra tractors in our shop. Yes, we may loose money by not working on outside stuff but we keep the customer happy by quick turnaround when/if they have a repair issue.

If a dealer takes two weeks to even look at the unit it seems to me that they need more technicians.

J5 Tractor was where I test drove a 71hp Zetor. I talked to the shop manager and he was a Zetor owner and knew that tractor well. But it seemed to me that they were not interested in talking about anything smaller than the used 71hp Zetor.
I find it odd that another Mahindra dealer won't help you. Is this normal? The Mahindra dealer in Conroe is where I do business. Talk to Travis and see if he can help you. ;) He is their tractor salesman and occasionally turns a wrench. If you want, tell him Brandi said talk only to Travis! :D Heck, I would call him now,but it is after 5. They are open till noon on Saturdays. He might be there, or in the hay field on a 7520, or fishing.
hugs, Brandi
