Hi
So I have made a nice bracket and installed a gear pump/motor to rotate my chute it works perfectly but I notice the pump/motor leaks oil through the spindle I was wondering if anybody has attempted to fix something like that is it worth doing? am I getting myself in to something that I just waste may time and end up buying a new pump or is it fairly easy to fix that my understanding will be that it is just e=an "O" ring that most likely it is a problem
I would appreciate the help
Thank You
Paul

Need pix and numbers to determine the make/model

Some are easier than others, some require OEM kits only

Was it a pump used as a motor or a motor? Some motors have a high pressure shaft seal which pumps usually do not. Like wdchyd said, provide the make and model and I suspect someone can help you determine what is needed.

I was using it as a motor to drive the snow blower chute RT-LT it works perfect but **** thing leaks and I have a big stain on the concrete + I don't want to loose my hydraulic oil this stuff is not cheap
and don't want to ruin a tractor in case it gets low
I was hoping there is some sort of standard shaft size + opening in the front cover plate where the seal sits etc but I see I was wrong, I have been in few places but no help

That is a LSHT (Low Speed High Torque) motor. It could be one of several different brands like Eaton Char-Lynn, White Ross, Parker, etc. Seal may be hidden under an aluminum or steel plate. May have to remove a snap ring to pull this plate out. Could be a couple of O-rings or quad rings used as seals also. If you pull the drive coupling off the shaft what do you see??

Hi
OK so here are the pictures of the inside one part of the seal was broken and you can see irregular edges rest look ok now I think that seal was a part of the metal ring (not a copper one that is a "wiper" I believe) where do I go from here??

I would first browse through the motors in the Surplus Center on-line catalog and try to match your motor with the different brands they have. Do some research with the manufacturer customer service if you can find a match and try to narrow down exchanging pictures and description. SC does not sell repair parts, I think that is right. Dead end: take it to a hydraulic shop and have them look it over. They may have a universal seal replacement kit that works on many brands. This could be one of those catch 22 things; ie, the cost for parts and/or repair labor may well exceed the $300-400 cost of a new one from Surplus Center. My close by hyd shop even recommended SC rather than buying valves and cylinders from them. They cannot buy these items from their supplier for what SC sells them for.

It looks like a Char-lynn but the seals don't look right.....it maybe a knock-off copy-cat from asia

What does that metal tag on the side say?

I agree with WD, it looks like a S series Charlynn but the castings look too crude for Eaton. maybe a knock off like Young Powertech or Metaris. CJ
