Replace every 2 years?

I agree, seems like changing a hose after only 2 years seems a little too much...Change as needed.

Fluids, filters, grease, etc - sure. And I will do belts after 5-6 yrs or so as PM. But the rest of it is just too silly. I'm glad to see I'm not alone here!

I would venture to say the suggested maintence schedule is based on the continuos use machinery that uses these prime movers as these engines are used on a lot of pumps, generators, light towers, vibratory rollers, fishing boat engines, etc.

The best thing is visually checking the belts and hoses for thier general condition. and use that as a guide as the are the main componensts subject to the wear and tear as well as ozone exposure which will destroy hoses and belts.

If any of the rubber starts coming off in your hands its time to change the hose or belt.

About the hydraulic hoses- please remember that if the exterior hose is at all cracked and brittle you have to change the hose as its strength has beeen weakened by heat from the hydraulic oil.

It is most unreassuring that a Company should expect
fluid pipes to be good for 24 months only . I wonder if
it's got something to do with liability/class action for
fuel leaks ? I've got equipment that's 15 years old , on
original pipes .........

I'm coming to the conclusion that a lot of modern 'rubber' is rubbish. Lawnmower tyres for example seem to perish (self destruct) easily. I'm not one for replacing hoses without a good reason but I check them more regularly these days.

After a time period, the coolant will wear out the lubricating qualitys for the waterpump and seals. Sulfur can accumulate in the wet cylinder engines and some others, from leakage. This sulfur can cause the freeze plugs to become thin or leak. Prestone Af. can also plug the radiator passages, if left in too long. I switched to Peak and or low silicate type. This all happened to my truck, which had been maintained normally. Now that we have low sulfur fuel here, unable to determine accumulation, with out a $29.00 test. So that is more than changing the coolant. I watch for bulging or deter. hoses and replace shining ,cracked belts. jy.

So I just cracked 1000 hrs on the tractor and the light came on to do scheduled service. I'm going to get to most of it here in the next month pretty much when it's time to put it away for the winter. But in reading the manual there are a ton of things they tell you to replace every 2 years - coolant hoses, oil lines, fuel lines, etc... Now having been working on vehicles for ~20 yrs, I'm thinking this is the overkill approach (and then some...). I'm not against doing PM, but this seems a tad excessive. My wife's Exploder is still on the original hoses after 11.5 yrs....for example... I'm thinking the Kubota can handle more than 2 yrs... If the point is simply to prevent field failure, OK, but I'm not about to replace everything in that case.

Does anybody really do all those things? And especially since it seems to be so excessive??

Isn't MOST of the rationale for buying Koo_Bo_Bo that their resale value is so high you can (& NEED to) replace the whole tractor every two years ?
Why mess with maintenance, just trade it and upsize (-:

I have known about Prestone AF for many years. As a mechanic, I worked on many cars with plugged up cooling system and and nearly all had Prestone.
Prestone is the one AF that I do not use.
