Replace 'foundation' under a 10x16 garden shed

Sort of off topic, but a shed is a great thing to have at a rental house.

I bought a rental with a shed in the back and the first tenant stayed until he died, the second one stayed until I sold the place.

Nature abhors a vacuum and a tenant will fill the shed with "stuff" that might be worth $100 at a garage sale and then it is like you put a ball & chain on his foot. He can't move and give up his "stuff".

Interesting,,,,, I wasn't thinking of letting tenants have use of the shed, but that's a great consideration.

Nice resto job! Some cedar plank and bastion boards would look good after some staining for the siding.

Thx. Haven't heard of plank & bastion, Are you referring to Board & Batten? I like B&B.

Yes, same thing. I have really gotten to where I like cedar with a good quality oil based stain.

I've found just the opposite happens with renters and them having a place to store stuff. They fill it with junk and when they move out, they leave all their junk behind. My parents had rental houses and cleaning up and hauling off all their junk happened when they moved out. Now that I remodel and repair houses for a living, I sometimes get clients who own rental property and then need me to get it ready to rent again. Getting rid of their junk is always good for at least one full day worth of work, sometimes several days. I've always thought that no rental should have a garage. The less space to store junk, the less you will have to haul off when they leave.

I am done with stain. I have a 40x40x12 barn that I have stained 5 times over 25 years. I've kept it in good shape, but stain doesn't last long enough. I have started painting outbuildings, you can get some really good paints these days.

I've got a rental with a shed. The shed is really full. I hope to sell the place before they move out! No date set, just hoping! :)

Sorry little shed is happy now. Added steel roof, gutters, door and a shed roof on the other side (tractor sized). Will add a window with a flowerbox.

Also a pic of a mother's day flowerbox & bench that I built yesterday (with cedar from my sawmill !).
