Sometimes they puts those things on there with loctite, or something similar. You may need to add a little heat then use some wrenches to get it off, but once you get it moving, you will have no problem using the hose you have. When you put our coupler on there, there is no need to tighten it down that hard. NPT is tapered so just getting it snug with a wrench is all you'll need to make a tight connection.
