Has anyone replaced the Key start with something like a few rocker panel switches? The only key I have looks about to break in two so I've been thinking of just taking out the key portion anyway.

If anyone has done this, was it easy to wireup the switches? Since my key controls the start and the headlights It might get a little complicated. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks.

Beltfed,
First time out, the key fell out of my ignition of my TS1910 and went under my slasher, never to be seen again /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif !!
I had an old bunch of keys from various cars/bikes etc, I picked one a similar shape and I am still using it today. I get the feeling that the switches are not exactly high security, might pay to give it a try before going down the modification path.

Good advise. While I'd like the look and feel of switches it is probably way more hassle then just getting the key switch to work. Guess I'll live with this until the key breaks and then use a screwdriver or something like that. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Any keyswitch will work, less than 10 bucks at wal-mart. Only thing you need to juryrig is the glowplug switch. I used a starter button I had on hand for that. The easier route is to buy a new deisel switch at Napa or some such.
