replace parker wheel motors

they bolt the wheel motor to a weldment then it bolts to the frame. at least that is what i saw my last time at pt. the new wheel motor is larger and the mount is a lot heaver than the old way, a vast improvement!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I am loosing about a gallon every 5 minutes out of the main shaft on the motor. Obviuosly I have a problem. I wouldnt worry FOR NOW about a few drops. I found out some specs on my motors but not from parker I am still waiting for them to get back to me. The specs on my old motors are as follows;
small frame tb series parker motor (discontinued)
tb0230 13.9 cubinch/rev
displacement handles 129 gal pm
max supply pres 2750 psi
max speed 246 rpm
I am not sure of the acuracy of this info because of the source. I am still waiting for parker to get back to me. Are there any websites that you guys know of that I can look for other brands of motors that might meet theese specs?
Are the shafts on the new pt motors still tapered? How does one measure the amount of taper? Are tapers standardized?
The shaft comes out of the motor at 1 inch and in a 1 3/4 changes to 3/4 inch threads with a key.

When I received my brand-spanking-new PT425 in July, it had a leaking hose connection - it would only manifest itself when pressure was on - I needed to turn on the engine and go forward and back slowly -and you could tell it was leaking. I needed to remove the wheel and tighten the connection carefully. It is OK now.

Let us know how it turns out.

Here is a possible reason. When I had the flat tire and put on the new one I jacked up the frame without loosening the lug bolts. In other words I had the tire off the ground prior to taking the lug nuts off. As it was from the factory the lug nuts were very tight, which means I was putting allot of pressure (in reverse) on the tire iron to loosen the lugs. Shortly after this (after replacing the tire) I noticed the oil on the rim. Could putting allot of pressure in reverse on the motor have anything to do with the small oil leak?

Baileys has a ton of hydraulic motors at great prices but not one on there site has a tapered shaft which is what pt used to use on the 1425. They have motors as low as $125 with specs similiar to the parkers at $350. Maybe I will look into having my hubs converted to a different shaft. What does the shaft look like on the current pt 425?

every thing you want to know about that tb0230 wheel motor is on the parker hydraulic website. new motors will be around $350.00 parker might even rebuild them for you/

Well after almost 4 days on the phone and net. I learned the following. Power trac lied when they told me bushings were no longer avaliable for my parker motors. Bill walsh at parker says they have them in stock. Power trac charged me $56 a set for a each seal kit I bought. A distributor in Jersey sells them for twenty bucks. The smallest nick on the shaft barely visble to the human eye and cause the seals to wear out prematurly. Bottom line I have 4 Whites motors on the way. They fit my tapered hubs. Pt said I had to buy 4 new hubs.
And the best part they have more torque and are costing me $180 apiece almost half of pt price.
