Replaced Rough Cut mower blades

Why not take a welder to those and lay a couple of nice beads down the edge, then sharpen them up again?

I've seen that done, and it works. I've even been told that the blade stayed sharp longer than the original. I guess it depends on what rod was used, and how soft the original blade was.

If the welder knows half way what he is doing, there is no danger. Even if a weld bead let go, it would be contained inside the deck. Hitting rocks, bottles, and wire are probably a lot more dangerous.

Just curious: what did the new set cost you?

Anthony,

Took me a while to find my invoice for the blades. I paid $56.41 CDN including GST (federal sales tax). They are the actual parts from King Kutter purchased through the dealer I bought the cutter from.
