Replacement alternator for New Holland 3930 - confused about part number

/ Replacement alternator for New Holland 3930 - confused about part number #11
How hard or easy is it to get the alternator out?

Knock wood, I haven't had to pull mine off my 3930 yet. That said, compared to trucks and cars I've fought to get alternators out of, physical access on a 3930 looks good.

General procedure:

Disconnect the positive battery cable, at the battery. <<<< Important <<<<<

Pre-soak the mounting bolts for the alternator with Kroil, PB Blaster, Deep Creep (or some other favourite rust-buster) to help free them up.

Disconnect the wiring from the alternator, then undo the mounting bolts. Once loose, don't drop the alternator - esp. if you don't wear steel-toed boots :)

If you are stuck at a particular point, post pics, and advice will arrive soon enough....

Rgds, D.

Do your self one other test, remove battery cable and charge the battery. If you have meter keep testing the battery's voltage and see if it is dropping. Should see very little, maybe a tenth or two but no more over say two weeks. If it is holding probably not the battery but still does not prove it is the alternator. Crank the tractor and with it running remove battery cable and it should still run. Now switch on the lights and see if they work. If not you have a charging issue.Could be alternator or bad connection but a charging issue. Do not miss bad cable connections either. Sometimes they are hard to see so clean them.
