OK, all, thanks. Winston 1 - thanks for the diagram. I think I have clear direction to get it rebuilt. I like the way the seat back pivots so will keep that and rebuild the bottom.

Yes, typo on the date. Should be 1981 I believe. Not exactly sure of the year but thought it was 79 or later. I will take pics when done.

I would want to get something adjustable like Neat 1500 has. Say, Neat 1500 don't you guys need a seat belt to keep from falling out because you are all upside down -
yes?? Hah!! :) Thanks, everyone.

Yeah it has a belt too

yep no doubt about it that thing is NOT original, not with all that's going on in there! It must weigh a ton with all that 2" square tubing and stuff! But I agree, id get some new wood and 4" dense foam or whatever works and some outdoor sunbrella fabric and a new piece of treated ply or normal CDX if you keep inside and bolt the wood and glue the foam to it and stretch and staple your fabric onto it. Even the Chinese seats would not come out any cheaper than that. and would not be near as comfortable as what you have.

What he said, maybe fab up some springs in the back.

A specialty shop that repairs and maintains bass boats etc, likely can rebuild that seat same as original if you don't want to do it yourself.

In fact I wonder if that folding seat came from a boating store. There might be an identical replacement there, but likely expensive.

nothing made in the last few decades would look anything like that from a boat store. haha!

Marine upholstery shops are expensive. I bet that seat at a real upholstery would probably charge $800-150 for that seat I bet.

Will try first to source both pieces. Looks like I could use something generic that has two pieces. Alternate is to buy a new bottom and get the back recovered at local upholstery shop. Looks like the generic two piece is the best bet. Looking at the pics, you can see that the seat back was modified to fit the frame. Frame from one source and the seat back from something else. Also note that the seat assembly can be adjusted fore and aft by loosening up the bolts on the bottom of the frame. Actually, except for it all being warn out, not a bad set up. 20170604_140703.jpg20171002_155543.jpg20171002_155628.jpg

As I suspected the 3ph lever was bent way over to accomodate the seat width.

Yes, for sure on the 3ph lever. And, rScotty, thanks for the pic of original. Think I will stick with the two piece for the moment.

Very similar to my old seat. But he's also missing the factory mounts and springs. Sorta got to work with what you have at this point or just make something different.
