Kubota Bx25
We are moving from California o Northern Wisconsin. I had planned to take my BX25 and and RTV900 and use the tractor for snowblowing and general property cleanup and maintenance. However, it looks as if the offer to buy our current house includes the tractor and RTV. The price and it details of the offer are as yet unclear and it may be acceptable to include the machines in the deal, depending.

If that happens, I will need a new tractor and I am not sure which Kubota model would work best as a machine primarily for snow blowing, using a loader for some landscaping work and other general light tractor jobs.

Any suggestions about which Kubota model(s) I should consider? It has been a long time since I was in the tractor market and I am out of the loop about anything other than my BX.

We need more information. I own or have owned a bx, a b, a grand l, and the equivalent of a M series. They all are good for what they do. How much land will you own, will this be your lawnmower, and?? how big are the tasks mentioned? And get ready for some sticker shock!

Dealer experience just as important as owner experience. I would look over property, consider tractor applications and see what local dealers have to offer as solutions. In the 70's had IH, JD and Case dealers within 8 miles of me. Now have 2 Kubota dealers within 30-35 miles.

The new house/property is about 6 acres, most of it forested the rest lakeside. So, there may be some mowing, but given the layout of the place, mowing may be best left to a push mower. There will be some deck construction, some relandscaping, and a lot of snowplowing. My BX25 currently gets used for a variety of landscaping and property maintenance tasks that will not be the same at the Wisconsin property, it is just a different place. If I were to take the BX25, it would be overkill, but then better overkill than nrkill at all. A smaller machine would do fine as long as it has decent snowplowing capacity. I will need a loader and for the deck and relandscaping either an auger or a backhoe. The current subcompact tractor offerings from Kubota are confusing to me.

Get one with a cab, if it is alot of snowplowing, make it easy on yourself.

With six acres I would keep the BX25, or buy another one if you get enough for the current one as part of the house sale.

Will you want to make or maintain trails? Will you be cleaning up fallen dead trees/branches? And so on, and so on. And snow is something you will live to enjoy in Wisconsin I bet! Not sure about the RTV...How many acres are you moving from? On my 8 acres I never felt the need for an RTV but always feel the need for a tractor, of which I have two, the smaller a BX.

It just sounds like you really could make use of your BX in Wisconsin. But at the end of the day only you really know what you plan to do and what your needs may be.

We currently live on 7 acres of weeds, rocks, and oak trees. It is also on a reasonably steep hillside. I decided to get the RTV to do some things on the hill that I was not comfortable doing with the tractor. It is mostly used for spraying, hauling tree branches and other landscape debris. The dump feature is very useful. I can think of some but not a lot of uses for the RTV in Wisconsin. On the other hand, my brothers in law who will be nearby to have already thought of lots of uses for it on their properties. They keep encouraging me to bring both. I will part with the RTV before moving if the circumstances are right. I am not sure anything less than a BX25 is what we want or need. Our Wisconsin driveway is best suited to a snowblower and not plowing, so putting a blower on a tractor is a priority. But, if someone makes the right offer on the house that includes the Tractor, then I will get something else that is big enough to use as a snowblower and tractor for doing some landscape work. I really will not know about the wooded acres until we get to Wisconsin. We we bought the property here was several feet of snow and so the wooded area was not examined.

I use a BX2230 to snow blow my 3/8 mile dirt/gravel drive in Northern Michigan snow belt area. Yes it takes time, but doable. I could take the backhoe off and buy a 3pt blower for it but costs money. It would be faster, but I have time. Jon
