Replacing auger shear bolts - B2782

Searay,

Been there, done that. It was a few years back, but I had the flange for the Fan break off the shaft (may have been using too hard a bolt). Anyway, if memory serves getting the fan shaft out required a significant amount of dismantling. It was kind like one of those brain teaser puzzles where you have to move a piece one way to remove one part, and then back in place to remove another. It was a PITA but possible. Hope you have a garage you can work in. I wouldn't want to do it outside.

As much as shear bolts are a pain, the rusted slip clutch on my tiller taught me to appreciate the simple protection they provide. Replacing a few bolts is easier and cheaper than the alternative, and allows you to finish the job without having to wait parts to arrive. Why do those things happen 15 minutes after the dealer closes on on a Saturday???
