I have a 4WD JD650, and the two boots on the universal joints on the front drive shaft have deteriorated and need replacing. My local dealer got the boots for me. They are one piece, so I have to get the drive shaft out to slip the boots over the u-joints. Do I have to drop the front axle to pull the drive shaft in order to replace the boots?
TIA,
Gene

I can't answer 100% for sure, but it looks like you can do it without touching the front axle by sliding the boots and tube back and removing the snap rings (#11) to get the shaft free.
