Hello to all,

My last post was about my diesel that leaked when removing the bowl even though the fuel-shut off was closed. It was noted that in-order to prevent water in the fuel from condensation, to keep the tank full. This is where my fuel still came out when shut-off valve closed and cleaning the bowl. As noted, the fuel did not leak now when the tank was on 3/4 full. But now I have a new problem.

When I went to the shed, I noticed the dirt under the engine area looked wet. I thought either an oil or hydraulic leak. When I pulled her out, I learned it was diesel.

After shutting off fuel and removing bowl, it did not leak like before, but when reassembled, it was leaking from the threaded area. Yes, the o-ring was in and I even added silicone. There's 2 places where the threads are flat and it's leaking from those areas...one drop about every 8-9 seconds.

I am thinking it's time to replace the whole assembly. If not, is there another solution? If the assembly, are there any video's or tips on replacement? One ques is do I need to drain the fuel tank or is there another way to prevent fuel from leaking?

First might replace the O-ring. I have had worn O-rings not leak and new looking ones leak. Don’t over tighten. Check for burrs even with new parts.

Thanks / I値l try a new o-ring first and see how it goes. I値l also take a pic of the upper assembly where the threads are to show where the thread look smooth.

I did tighten a like more than normal. I would guess extra torque pinches o-ring & thins it out?

Particularly O-rings sealing flat surfaces with silicone grease. I’ve only used clean fuel for Oring lubricant for this filter. Doesn’t seal on the threads if like mine.

I don't have a Kubota, however, I thought my fuel filter assembly was leaking from the large O-ring also. But I was wrong. My valve used to turn the fuel off, has a replaceable "packing", it was discreetly allowing fuel to drip down, onto the threaded nut that hold the bowl against the large O-ring. Maybe you have a similar problem!

Found the problem. Thanks for your reply joh.

I pulled the fuel bowl and under the top of the fuel assembly, there was some crud under the area where the lg o-ring sets up. I removed the crud w very sm screwdiver, then replaced older o-ring w new one, then hand tightened. Assembled and opened **** off valve and no leaks !!! 👍.
