Hello to all,

My last post was about my diesel that leaked when removing the bowl even though the fuel-shut off was closed. It was noted that in-order to prevent water in the fuel from condensation, to keep the tank full. This is where my fuel still came out when shut-off valve closed and cleaning the bowl. As noted, the fuel did not leak now when the tank was on 3/4 full. But now I have a new problem.

When I went to the shed, I noticed the dirt under the engine area looked wet. I thought either an oil or hydraulic leak. When I pulled her out, I learned it was diesel.

After shutting off fuel and removing bowl, it did not leak like before, but when reassembled, it was leaking from the threaded area. Yes, the o-ring was in and I even added silicone. There's 2 places where the threads are flat and it's leaking from those areas...one drop about every 8-9 seconds.

I am thinking it's time to replace the whole assembly. If not, is there another solution? If the assembly, are there any video's or tips on replacement? One ques is do I need to drain the fuel tank or is there another way to prevent fuel from leaking?

Thank you and pls let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
tstex

First might replace the O-ring. I have had worn O-rings not leak and new looking ones leak. Don’t over tighten. Check for burrs even with new parts.

Thanks / I値l try a new o-ring first and see how it goes. I値l also take a pic of the upper assembly where the threads are to show where the thread look smooth.

I did tighten a like more than normal. I would guess extra torque pinches o-ring & thins it out?

Particularly O-rings sealing flat surfaces with silicone grease. I’ve only used clean fuel for Oring lubricant for this filter. Doesn’t seal on the threads if like mine.

I don't have a Kubota, however, I thought my fuel filter assembly was leaking from the large O-ring also. But I was wrong. My valve used to turn the fuel off, has a replaceable "packing", it was discreetly allowing fuel to drip down, onto the threaded nut that hold the bowl against the large O-ring. Maybe you have a similar problem!

Found the problem. Thanks for your reply joh.

I pulled the fuel bowl and under the top of the fuel assembly, there was some crud under the area where the lg o-ring sets up. I removed the crud w very sm screwdiver, then replaced older o-ring w new one, then hand tightened. Assembled and opened **** off valve and no leaks !!! 👍.

Thanks again to all - Tstex
