My Yanmar 2700 L has the exhaust pipe right in front of me and Im getting tired of breathing diesel fumes when a little wind is blowing the wrong way.
Id like to turn the exhaust down and route it under the tractor. Does anyone know if the exhaust manifold can be turned over and pointed down? It looks like it could be taken off and turned over and bolted right back on. I have a mig/tig welder and can weld up an exhaust pipe myself..thanks ron:confused:

See response to you other post. There is no 2700 L. Are you saying you have a YM2700? If so, I guarantee the loader is not "factory supplied".

sure, my avatar shows my muffler pointed down with exhaust blowing out at an angle. the purpose of my muffler being positioned down is so i can maneuver under tree limbs while mowing. having welding skills opens up just about any positioning and routing of the exhaust system you desire.

The tractor is a YM2700L:D, the loader doesnt have a number on it.

Thanks again rhett, did you turn the exhaust manifold over or just make a 180 degree elbow to route it down???????????:(

Then I stand corrected. I have never seen nor heard of a YM2700L before.

LMTC, I think that this model came to america with the loader on it, hence the L in YM2700L. Every bit of writing on the loader is in japanese. Hey we all got to "live and learn", thanks for answering anyway.. ron:D

And here's mine with the exhaust pointed forward (for orchard use).

hi again ron,
my situation is different than yours, I do not have an OEM muffler. the previous owner put on an aftermarket one that clamps on to the exhaust manifold (piece of pipe on 4 bolt flange). so i loosen a couple of nuts and rotate where i want it at any time. i'm attaching a drawing of one like it.

for you I think the 4 bolt pattern will allow 4 possibilities of positioning an unmodified muffler. Now your welding skills enhance the routing and mounting possibilities as unlimited. Wish I could help more, but I'm here you are there. Think about what you want, measure, re-think your thoughts, re-measure, get a second opinion or third then go ahead with the operation. Rear exhaust is most definitely a custom project, thought about doing it and wound up with what I have now = I'm Lazzy !!!

hi California, I tried the exhaust out the front.
Pros → the exhaust sound is almost unheard, very quiet
Cons → it seemed I was always driving into the exhaust fumes and heat
I liked it very much, but the cons outweighed the pros for my preference.

Will adding length to the exhaust have any effect on the performance of the machine? I would not expect better but I would be concerned about a loss of power, do not know why but then I could write a book about things I do not understand. LMTC, feel free to chime in here, I respect your knowledge and experience with these machines.
