( Hello again, I have looked at and driven several different tractors. JD,NH,Montana,Kubota, massey, kioti. Haven't driven a Mahindra yet. and not sure I'm going to....Just came from Mahindra forum and it seems that the main topic is resale value....I plan on buying a tractor and keeping it for several, several years so. I'm not really interested in resale value....
I was trying to find out some info on the M tractor, but the forum didn't really help me and so I went to site for info. seems to be basically the same as other brands, but no good all angle pictures..just specs....
I may be out of line, but I was wondering how the Mahindra stacks up against the kioti price wise?.....
there are no dealers of any tractors near me, so I am just trying to save another trip.....I am seriously considering a DK55.....but would like to know about the Mahindra.....cost is a consideration
If this is not a legit question then just ignore..thanks Mike

Well,

I may be the only one here that has both models you may be looking at. I just purchased a DK55C and own a Mahindra 6000 4WD FEL with 7ft IM Cutter.

On resale value, I think everything will depreciate some at first and then decline at a reduced rate. I bought both units used and if the resale is low it's hard for me to tell. There seems to be a fair amount of interest no matter what you are looking at - the Kioti guys like the Kiotis and the M guys rightly like the Ms. I have about 50 hours on the Mahindra (375 total) and have been very impressed with it. In fact, it is heavier and according to the specs probably torqier(sp). I like it a lot and have been impressed with everything I've asked it to do. I would say the Mahindra is more of a Utility size tractor and the Kioti a 'super' compact. Weighs about 1300lbs less according to the spec sheets. Rated power is a little less on the Kioti and the Kioti has a smaller engine but turbo.

The Kioti was purchased basically because I almost bought one before the Mahindra and the closest dealer to me is a Kioti dealer - also Massey which I like as well, but the opportunity came up on the Kioti so I thought I better give it a try.

I'm looking forward to the Kioti and once I get to spend some time on it(in a couple of weeks) I'll offer some comparison. For now, determine how strong a tractor you need and what you'll use it for and go from there. If you decide you'd like to try a Mahindra, I will be selling mine, I don't know maybe I'll sell the Kioti. I'd probably be happy either way. Please don't ask me to broadcast prices - certainly folks are pricing eqmt here and I'm okay with that. If you have a serious interest in pricing info PM me.

In the summer of 2004, I bought a DK55 with FEL and R4 tires for $22,900. I've put 150 hours on the tractor since then. I would sell that tractor today for $15,900, but I'm not sure I could get that for it?? Even selling at $15,900 for an almost new tractor, I would lose $7,000 dollars or 30 percent.

Resale may not be important to you now, but if something unexpected happens and you need to get rid of the payment, resale value becomes important.

I'm not sure where this figure came from, but you should be able to get at least 10% more than that, if not better.

When competing with a new tractor, I don't see any reason that a low hour, almost new tractor would need to sell for that much less than a new one.

I would probably jump on that sale if you were serious, and I didn't live so very far away!

My problem is that the dealer is 1.5 hours away and Kioti is not a popular brand in my market. The dealer I purchased from is also a small dealer and doesn't do a large volume. It's a royal pain to trailer the tractor 1.5 hours for service, leave it a week, then travel another 1.5 hours the next weekend to pick the tractor up. It's something I didn't think about when I purchased the tractor, but it's not something I will forget anytime soon /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

I'm thinking about running it on ebay in the next few weeks to see if I can generate some interest. I know it should be worth more than $15,900. We'll see when I list it on ebay.
