Re: \'She was fighting to the death\'

I wish these Iraqis that stuck there necks out in a situatuion like this should be recognized, like an all paid month long vacation here in the states,or offer them citizenship here if they liked,I feel they should be rewarded...but there is a lot of people that needs recognized,Iraqis and Americans/British etc....

Re: \'She was fighting to the death\'

Steel_wheels,

As Gerard says in his note, Muhammed, the man who put
himself and his family at risk for helping Pfc Lynch, was
granted refuge status. Basically the government just gave
him US citizenship. With refuge status he can come and stay
in the US and eventually become a citizen if he chooses.

Its funny, the US rewards a person and his family for doing
a very brave action by giving them freedom. Other
countries reward mass murders with lots of money...

And Muhammed went into the hospital multiple times to
get the info required to enable the operation. He is a brave
man. Course the Iraqi Regime and others in the region will
consider him a traitor....

Later,
Dan

My mistake Dan,

Thanks

This Jessica Lynch. Yes a hero!! A hero she is!! She probably uplifted a lot of coaliton soldiers by this rescue, she uplifted me anyway.

No she wasn't shot I guess, but she was stabbed from what I heard, she had broken bones, was probably beat pretty good and left to die.

Now get this, a reporter on the radio said she only joined the armed forces for the money?? I heard it on a Texas radio station, my wife and family are traveling right now but I sure wish I knew who that reporter was as I would like to ((well I won't say).

The money, I am sure she would trade all of the money she made in the armed forces to take back what happened to her. And I don't think she made anything close to make up for what happened to her or the suffering her family went through.

In my eyes she was a true trooper and I thank God we have people like her fighting for our freedom.

Murph, I haven't listened to a radio much lately, but I think both on the Internet and on TV, they've said she joined the military to get an education to be a teacher (I guess you could say that was for the money if she couldn't afford college otherwise). I realize there are lots of other reasons besides money to join the military, or to take any other job for that matter, but I can't see where that makes any difference, or any reason to object to a reporter saying that if it's true. I don't care why she (or anyone else) joined, whether it was for the money, or to travel, or patriotism, or whatever, if they do what they're supposed to do, and from we hear, she did! So whatever her initial motivation was makes no difference in what she is or what she did.

Just my opinion, of course.

I have no problem with anyone joining up for the money. It sure beats someone whinning about wanting to go to colledge and wanting someone else to pick up the tab. If someone wants to bettor theirself they generally can find a way to do it by putting an effort into it.

"She joined up for the money"

This reporter must have his head up his .... I read a few days ago that these guys and gals are risking their lives for ~$55/day, which includes combat pay of $5/day. I doubt any of these folks are in this for the money!

Bird,

I just want you to know that I wasn't picking on Texas radio stations. If fact it could have been an Oklahoma station for all I know. And your right it probably is all over the internet too but with traveling right now I don't get to see the internet too much right now. I guess I am frustrated when someone tries to change the actual facts or to try and degrade a hero. Someone else posted here $55.00 dollars per day. We owe the soldiers male or female a lot more than that. If they can protect our country and get a college education out of it that is great. The heck with these reporters trying to start rumors and all the other crap that comes with it.

Thanks to all the soldiers for protecting my freedom.

murph

ps, by the way bird, I am in Dallas and should be heading up I35 pretty soon here on the way home. Should be going right by your place.

When? I'm two blocks off I-35 on business state highway 121 and I'll buy your lunch if it's the right time. Unfortunately, I'll be spending tomorrow in the day surgery facility but don't have any specific plans the rest of the week.

And where in Dallas were you last night? In the area of the thunderstorms, hail, high winds, etc. or not? I don't see any damage around here this morning except a few small limbs down, but we did have a frog-stranglin' gully washer last night about 3 hours after I got back from the golf course. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The bad news is that one of our daughters, only 5 miles from us, has hail and wind damage to her roof, hail damage to her car and the new patio awning that was just installed Monday. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

"Jessica Lynch," called out an American soldier, approaching her bed. "We are United States soldiers and we're here to protect you and take you home."

Peering from behind the sheet as he removed his helmet, she looked up and said, "I'm an American soldier, too."
