Bird,

I was actually in Keller Texas. I thought it was a suburb of Dallas but it actually is a suburb of Ft. Worth. We did not get out of there until 3:00pm. I guess we were lucky because we did call back to my sister-in-laws place and she said they were headed for the interior closet. So we missed it. I saw the sign for Lewisville. Your close to the Texas Motor Speedway. I want to get tickets for that next year. Missed this year. Anyway sorry to hear about your daughters damage. Hope things go well with the insurance companies.

Wished I could have stopped but with the whole family it would have been rough on you. I am back in Minnesota, (Sunday Evening) hope things went well at the day surgery. Were you having surgery or something or was you just there for other people.

Murph, sounds like you were over on I-35W (which is where the speedway is) north of Ft. Worth, and I live just off I-35E north of Dallas. I-35 splits down at Hillsboro with "E" going up through Dallas and "W" up through Ft. Worth, then they get together again at Denton.

And I'm afraid I get to be the patient at the day surgery center tomorrow, but nothing serious; just an "esophagastroduodenoscopy" (that's a mouthful of a word that I'd never heard before) and a "colonoscopy" (and that one I know 'cause I had one 19 years ago). I'll say one thing for this doctor; he ain't lackin' in confidence. He says I'll be out of there by 10:30 a.m. and I told him that's what the doctor said 19 years ago and I woke up in a hospital room that evening and was there overnight. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif He just says ain't gonna happen this time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I hope he's as good as he is confident. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Not only a star. She'll be the biggest recruiter the military has had in a long time. The first POW to be rescued since WWII and the only woman POW ever to be rescued. Just wait for her to hit the talk show circuit and the news mag programs like Dateline. Her inspiration will spur hundreds, if not thousands, of young male and female high school students to think of a career with the US military. No better way to recruit than with a genuine US hero. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Jim, I'll have to admit to being surprised, but the crew at this surgery center were really good (assuming the doctor did a thorough exam), they were friendly and will take all the time you want them to take answering any questions and such, but otherwise they don't fool around. I was told to be there at 8:15 a.m., I got there at 8 a.m. and within 5 minutes, two nurses were working together, one taking care of the paperwork and putting in the IV, the other taking vital signs, hooking up heart monitor, oxygen tube, etc., rolled me into the treatment room, the doctor did his thing removing two polyps from the bottom and one from the top, and literally no discomfort at all except for the bloating and air in the intestinal tract afterwards, which didn't last long. And I was out of there and home by 10:20 a.m.

Re: \'She was fighting to the death\'

steel_wheels,

Don't take my note as a "correction" I was not sniping at
you. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been known to scan a discussion and miss things from
time to time. Well, often, would be more truthful! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have not caught up on the discussion but I hear Muhammed
is a Doctor and not a lawyer. Brave man regardless of his
profession.

Later,

That is what I read too, that she was taken with an empty clip after she unloaded on as many as she could. Very brave young lady and a testament to the character of ordinary Americans. I think it is very telling also the courage and determination of the Muhummad who walked 18 miles to alert US soldiers and then went back several times and the other Iraqis who helped. I know many Iraqis will have mixed feelings about US troops on their soil but we are going to see no one likes the Butcher of Bagdad and they will in the end be better off for our actions there.
I am so sorry her friend was one of the bodies they uncovered. Good she has a large family to help her heal emotionally from this trauma.
Good also to hear that the US has offered refugee status to Muhummad and his family. His wife worked there I understand and helped also and she could have been killed. He took a very grave risk. A simple man, named in honor of the Prophet, who risked everything for another person, a stranger at that. Increadible story and I doubt we know even a tenth of the details.
I also understand that Marines fixed bayonets and fought hand to hand with terroist near Bagdad. I hope this dispels the apparent worldwide myth that Americans will not fight when there is a cause and 9/11 is a cause. J

This should be played everyday so that no one forgets. It seems like Hollywood has already forgotten and believe it or not so has New York.

Remember

Takes some time to download especially if you have a 56k but worth it.
