Reset Computer after Repair of LS Tractor

How does one clear an error message on the computer after repair? LS dealers are few and far between in eastern Washington. The Massey dealer repaired the tractor.

If you have a scan tool that will clear codes on the ls, use that. If not, you may need to wait for it to clear on its own after x key starts. As far as I know, the cheaper scan tools may read codes, but can't clear them or communicate with the ecu otherwise.

There are two ways that I know of. One is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes. That should reset any codes. However, I have not tested that method.

The second way, and the way I've done it, is to get the ELM327 OBD2 reader from Amazon. Link

This reader is a bluetooth OBD2 reader. I didn't see the tractor model or year listed, so we are assuming there is an OBD2 port.

Along with the reader and your smart phone, you will need to download a simple app called Torque Lite. Link
There is a Pro paid version of the app with more features. But you should be able to clear codes with the lite, free version.

Plug in the reader, turn the tractor on, launch the app, connect to the reader, and clear codes.

Disconnecting the battery may clear certain codes from showing on the instrument cluster if they have been fixed, but might not clear all stored codes from ECU memory. Some codes like S1485 F7 won't go away until after 50 engine starts since the problem was fixed, even if the dealer tries to clear it with their EVCI service tool. Some OBD readers may work, but are designed for automotive use and may not recognize tractor codes but still may be able to clear them though. Doesn't hurt to try. I have an ELM327 for my vehicles but have not tried it on a tractor.

Thanks for the replies. It was my neighbor's tractor. He has since left it at the Massey dealer in trade for a new Massey. It was an expensive fix but he's happy with the new Massey.
