i am guessing, I think it was a 16 hp 48" cut and model 1648 sounds about right---it was all orange

I just bought a Gravely ZT1640 (16 hp Kohler/40" cut) for $2995. It is also sold under the Ariens name. I am convinced there is no more rugged ZTR out there for the price. Everything else in this price range is equipped with EZT trans, stamped steel deck, and a stamped frame. The Gravely/Ariens has a welded tubular frame, fabricated deck and IZT trans. They're made here in the states by a company who's been around a long time. Plus, I bought it from a local dealer who specializes in the service and repair of ZTRs, which I think is an advantage over having to go back to Lowes or TSC if something snafus.
I'm tickled pink with the performance--my yard looks great and it's cut in no time. I don't think there is much to match it in the market. I've attached a crummy cellphone snapshot.

When I visit Lowes or Home Depot, I look at the Cub Cadet, Ariens, or Husky and laugh! The Hustler is just so superior in every way!
The Honda offers plenty of power and the mower never hesitates no matter how tall the grass. The 7mph top speed is slightly faster than I want to cut. So, I'm glad I didn't waste money on more HP or top speed!
With its comfort, quality, power, beautiful cut, 4-year warranty, and fun to ride, it's well worth the $5,000! It may well be the last mower that I will ever need to buy!!
