We are 99 posts in and this might possibly be the most important piece of information exchanged.

To quote the old TV show Lost in Space, "Danger Will Robinson!!".

Just saying here: I am 100% deaf so maybe that is why both of the kids go thru their mom...who is also 100% deaf. So much easier to talk to your mom online rather than deal with the grump of a stepdad who refuses to say anything online.....does anyone here REALLY understand the situation i am facing with my stepkids?

Yep. I remember you stating that way back.

My "Danger" warning was in regards to their inability to find a way to communicate directly with you. They want your money, but they don't want to communicate with you?

Sorry, no offense meant. I think you are a great man wanting to do the right thing. But doing the right thing isn't in your court. It's in theirs. :(

Just read this entire thread. Only once saw the question raised about why the two aren't thriving/advancing at their current jobs? You said they are "muddling" through life. Kids in tow. Specifically how is a degree going to change that?

Are they succeeding/excelling at their current level position but are blocked from advancement for lack of a degree? Or, is this just a hit and hope that somehow getting any kind of a degree will magically transform their lives?

You say they are hard workers but is that real given the "muddling" comment and that they seem to have not advanced in their current positions?

Do you really have evidence and solid ground to believe that a degree will change their lives? Or, do you just want to 'help' to feel good about helping? Have you seriously considered that 'helping' may just be enabling?

Why does your help HAVE to come in the form of "paying" for college?
Why couldn't it be in the form of child care, etc?

Seems you have a lot of questions you may not really want to answer in this situation.

Have you considered setting up a revocable trust account at your bank where they would get reimbursed based on the grades? If they didn't get the grades the trust could go to their kids for college expenses.

All I have read is the kids, these girls are not kids. Two sister at the same time all at once wanting to go back to school. Not much said about there husbands and the income they have. So many red flags here. Sorry the way I feel but do as your heart feels. But don't bank on them being there in your later years. In 3 years you don't even know the girls very well.
