Wow I feel your pain... I ran a CIH 9270 (can we all say HUGE tractor) out of fuel once in high school....I think it took and hour to get it all primed back, up and running.... made sure to NEVER do that again... till I was running a neighbors skid loader... I had borrowed it before, but he neglected to tell me that the gauge had quit working properly in between... that took me about 45 minutes to get running if I remember right. No fun either way...
Like some one else said.. I wouldn't crack any lines... you can just pump that primer till she goes.. likely to take a while, but much safer.
