RET or anyone who has cut down pto for the BX2200

RET I noticed that you have a BX2200 and also had to cut down your PTO for you tiller. I also have a BX2200 and a 44” First Choice tiller. I was wanting to know how much or short the PTO needs to be. How do you know what length to cut the PTO. What do you use to determine what is too long or short? Anyone who has any answers I would appreciate them.

When I cut down the shaft for my spreader, I just "eyeballed" it and figured slightly long. You need to do that with the tool mounted on the 3-pt. Be sure to check it both raised and "down".

Hello, I just cut my PTO shaft for my BX2200 and a First Choice 48". I measured just like described in the other post, I cut it a little long, and cut it three times to keep it the max length (overlap) and not end up too short. I used a sawzall, and it took less than ten minutes for all of it.

I did as described above. Took rough measurement after hooking up tiller to tractor. Made equal cuts on each of the 2 shaft sections with a sawzall, pieced it together, took it back apart and cut a little more, etc. Took 3 tries if I remember right. Wanna make sure you have plenty of overlap when two sections are put together, but you wanna make ABSOLUTELY sure neither piece will 'bottom out' in the raised position....'cause something expensive may give way if that happens. I can take some measurements of what I ended up with when I get home this evening if that would help. Let me know.
