Retaining Wall Build with Landscape block

Wow, nice-- I don't think Rome was built any better!

Going this direction with an addition to our house: The garden level basement will be a full width walk out, ~25' wide. Yard to door stop ~3-4'.

What slope did you use on the walk out? 1/4"/ft? What was your footing depth/width? How did you cut the stone so well for the drain? What is your soil type (clay/sand/etc)? And what is the block?

Thanks, I figure that weather conditions here aren't as bad as yours, so a good reference to what I want to do. Any particular considerations you made for the project?

The slope was about 1/4"/ft I made sure it had plenty with the doors there, seems to work fine, footer base was about 8" well tamped, lots of stone and fabric to keep the stone clean for drainage. I used a hammer drill with a 1/4" bit and a grinder with a diamond wheel, and I would never work without one for pavers and walls, then I filled the block with some concrete mix being how I weakened it. The only thing I was concerned about was drainage being the top of the wall is below grade so rain water will run towards the wall. I did grade a swail behind each wall to divert the flow time will tell, and at least 12" of stone behind the wall for drainage also. It should last a long time the used RR ties had been in their 21 years.
