Well, got my retaining wall up and starting to level yard.

I used my new Mahindra 3510 to dig back the edge of the yard, then to both fill the back with 2B gravel and the base and front with 2A modified.

It is much smaller than the big backhoe, so it takes longer, but man- you can get within about an inch or so of exactly where you want to put the material or dig. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Just thought I'd share. This took a full day, then about an hour the next, after getting more blocks.

Sure does look professional. I will have some retaining walls to build myself next spring. Don't think I can afford the blocks though. I have about 1000' total varying in height from 18" to 4 feet.

Bob,

The blocks were $1.97/ea at the local concrete supply house. Same price as Lowe's, but better quantities and local family running the place.

Doug,

Tomatoes? Nah- just had to block out the nude sunbathers /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That looks nice.
That's looks like a lot to accomplish in that short time period.
How many people were on the job?
I need to put in something similar, but don't know about the time budget.

That looks really sharp!! Just curious, but when you build a wall like that, do you use a level for each brick to keep the whole thing level? And did you use sand as a base?
