Retirement - Day 1

I never thought it would take this long to get the financial kinks straightened out. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif SS was the easy part. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
My financial guy says it has only just started. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif We will be seeing each other for years to come.
We have invited him to celebrate Christmas with our family. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The biggest consideration is money I think. If you end up with a situation that lets you get by or better, then doing what you want to everyday is pretty neat.

If money will be too short to live comfortably...might be better to work a bit longer.

My workplace closed almost 4 years ago and I was out on my ear (retired) just before I turned 54. Things ended up working out for us and there is no turning back!

Anyway, if you have things to do...you are going to love having the wife as your only boss now...assuming you are married that is... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thank you for the words of encouragement.

Fortunately for me money is not the issue. It's the not doing what I've always done every day for the last 40 something years that's a bit unnerving.
I'm sure I'll adjust and love it but still, it's one huge, scary change in my life.
Yes, my wife will continue to work (part time) so I'll do most of the cooking.

B7500, I took early retirement at 55. I worked part-time for a little over a year after - 20hrs/week +/- but quickly found that it was easier to stay home. No problem at all adjusting. Your wife will be able to see some things actually checked off her honeydo list! Also, pursue your hobbies more fervently. Both my wife and I are retired so we're together 24/7....spend a lot of time on our genealogy pursuits and enjoy picking up grandkids from school, etc. Go for it! 58 in Feb.

Just looked out the window this morning. Everything is turning white with snow this morning. No pressure here to make sure that I can make it to work.
