I have a few questions. My dealer tells me I need to figure out if the Backhoe is open or closed center. Does anyone know? They say I cannot use an open center valve. Also does anyone know which ports in the valve body I should attach the hydraulic fittings?

I have a #7 on a Deere 790. I believe it's open center but I only say that because it hooks into my Power Beyond circuit and I was warned to not leave the PB circuit disconnected. That tells me fluid always flows which I believe is open center.

Hope this helps and welcome to TBN!

Thanks for the Welcome and the info. I really hope someone can help with a picture of the valve ports I should use on the tractor if i can make this work. Also does anyone know if the open valve issue could be overcome somehow?

Show a picture of your hyd block. It should be under the right floor board.

Are you sure they said not to use an open center valve? The 2601 uses an open center hydraulic system, there is no hydraulic block like on some tractors as the loader valve is integrated. I guess you could consider the loader valve the hyd block.

If you have the built in loader valve, you will have to cut the line going to the 3pt and insert the new valve using compression fittings.

Install a male and a female QD and just plug in the BH when needed. You will not need the 3pt system.

When not using the BH, couple the QD together.

If your BH valve is convertible, make it so it is open center with PB adapter installed.

If you don't want to cut the line you can replace it with adapter fittings and hoses, I haven't checked the 2601 yet but it appears to use the same valve for the loader and fitting on the transaxle for the 3pt as the B2x20 series.
If that's the case then the banjo fitting on the valve can be replaced with a SAE 8 o-ring fitting, and the 3pt fitting on the transaxle uses a 3/8 BSPP.

Here's pictures from my B2620 after I added rear remotes, you'll use the same connection for a backhoe.

The loader valve picture won't load.
