Reusable fittings

Sorry, I have to take back my statement :D. I will blame on the change of language (and maybe I should have read the whole thread). Ok, now I know what you mean with reusable fittings. I was always thinking of what you seem to call Plug-In fittings.

Ok, the "reusable fitting" (Screw in fitting for me) I would not use any other hose then the manufacturer recommends.

If you want to use a Plug-in fitting that works with any standard hose can look here > http://cejn.com.sg/upload/download/pdf_catalogues/610_WEO_Catalogue-english.pdf

Okay Sweden Art, I see what you mean. That catalog you posted is some neat stuff. One thing people don't realize is that here in America, everything you buy comes with a free lawyer just waiting to be taken out of the package.

you hit the nail on the head Wayne County ... most of these people have no idea what happens when you are called in by workmans compensation board to testify as to why something happened. I've been their twice and it's hard to look at the widow and tell them that if some one had spent the extra $20 he may still be here.
Why risk an accident that can be avoided by not doing it right the first time, most times the second chance comes with a painful reality..

That's the sad reality. Everything is fine until someone loses an eye. You don't need seatbelts either, until you are in an accident.

People do a lot of risky stuff and have no problems but someday the cylinder in that pistol will stop with the bullet in between the firing pin and barrel but you won't know it til its too late.

What ,you think I would want to do this kind of crap on purpose. You don't know me at all guy. I used what I was sent, and BTW it was with DHH.
If you use enough parts sooner or later there will be failures through no fault of yours. That goes for anything.

Notice the mention of four different brands of hose.

I am with WayneCountyHose...Do not mix and try to match fittings and hoses with out EXACTLY KNOWING what you are doing!!!

Example SAE100R2AT 1/2"

Weatherhead 1/2"
H425 OD 28/32"
H245 OD 26/32"
H104 OD 27/32"

Aeroquip 1/2"
FC212 OD 0.88" (28/32=0.875")
FC510 OD 0.80" (26/32"=0.8125")
GH195 OD 0.87" (28/32=0.875")

etc etc...the list goes on, and there are small differences in Outside Diameter.
The "cheap Chinese discount hoses", might not even have an accurate number on OD....so it might be hard to find "usable reusable"...

Different outside rubber thickness and quality, requires different design and size of the threads inside the sleeve.

Many of them can be crimped with the same fittings but different crimp diameter will be needed.
A reusable fitting can not adjust to different OD's, You have to use the one manufacturer recommend.

If hose have larger diameter than the recommended for the fitting, it will compress the inside of hose a few 100's of an inch. Then you will fail to screw nipple to the bottom of the collar or sleeve, and if you do, it can cause such stress on neck of nipple so it breaks at the wise, or later when installed.

If hose have smaller diameter than recommended for the fitting, hose can start turning in the sleeve when screwing (screwing up outside rubber) in the nipple. This will always end up with the hose disconnecting from the fitting when pressurized.

Ive looked at outside diameters at different places that are interchangable with weatherhead h42504 hose. and they varie less than 38/64" of an inch. I reckon thats close
