Some of you already know that I use my tractor only for snow clearing. I've made every attempt to make it safe for both me and the general public.

To add to the safety factor I installed a reverse camera with a 7" LCD monitor. I've added LED lights to the top of the cab along with a top of the cab strobe light bar. Strobe lights on the rear of the blower and White strobes on the plow on the FEL. It seems there are people who still don't pay attention with all that stuff on the thing.

Last winter during a Hugh snow storm I was out plowing at 6 AM in the morning. I could hardly see the plow in front of me and as I was backing up on the parking lot I almost ran over a lady walking up the road . Do these people realize that we might not see them in a blinding snow storm?
Anyway I decided then that I would install a reverse beeper on the tractor to try and make it even more safer than I have it now.

My Kubota is a L4240C and as you can see by all the photo's I snapped today It wasn't an overly complicated job. The bigest problem I had was fining the right switch for the task.I used a switch made by Truck-light. The part number is 92925. This is one very nicely designed switch. It's water proof. The spring lever will activate the switch in any direction and it comes with a small mounting plate that's adjustable. I did make another plate out of some stainless steel flat bar to adapt it to the tractor as seen in the photo's. I also made a stainless steel plate to attach the beeper to and as you can see I placed it on top of the AUX bracket.

All the connections were soldered, heat shrinked and covered with black wire loom. I use those peal and stick tabs to stick on the tractor so I can secure the harness (love those things) and then ran the main power wire in the cab via the 3rd function wiring and put a 5 amp fuse in the line and went to the fuse panel with it.
I also did a short video for your entertainment :) It works great. If I do run someone over now they can't say they didn't see or hear me :) Enjoy!

That should really help!

That's a loud beeper... I've thought about adding one but haven't had got around to it yet.

I really like your 'back up camera'... I have to look up & look at a mirror. But it helps.

Great job!

I'm sure it will help or at least I hope it will. I rethought the beeper set up and thought to myself that will I want to listen to it when I'm using the blower in the back so today I installed a by-pass switch in the system. Now the switch has to be lit red before the beeper will function.

The camera system is great. It's so good in fact that my son bought me a complete system for my old truck. With the truck I use two camera's on it. One is up on the back rack while the other is on the bumper. This system has a microphone in each camera and both are inferred. I attached two pics of the camera's from the other day. It's much clearer in person. Some how it don't leek perfect via digital photo.

Although I like the camera system and considering all the mods I've done with the tractor my favorite hands down is the "Rain tracker". It was tricky to install but inexpensive to purchase and It's the coolest option I've put on the thing.

4shorts,

When you come on vacation to the mainland - when can I expect you to upgrade my tractor with all this new fangled stuff? Man, I wished I lived down the road from you. Of course if I did I would be pushing a lot of snow with ya!

Hope all is well. My good buddy and his wife visited their son in Corner Brook last week.
I think she has plans for our family to visit with her next year... little does she know what her husband and I will be up too... visiting.

It is amazing how other car drivers respond to tractors. I helped a friend make hay the other day. Three trips totaling 700+ bales of hay and most drivers were trying to pass us or tail gating, or very impatience. Would hate to see a 10 ton trailer of hay come loose...

Lloyd

PS: need to find some 5hp Atlantic make n' break engines... any leads would be appreciated.

The camera on your truck looks great also.

Yea the 'rain tracker' is a good thing to have with a cab... I seen one the other day for $59.99

What brand of "Beeper" did you install ?

Hi Lloyd. You come on over with the tractor and we'll add some cool options to it. I've been busy on this end. got my old forklift rebuilt and customized and it's been a blessing to have this summer.

Our son is in Corner Brook now. He's in the Navy and was on the Halifax so when the ship went up on dry dock he got stationed in Corner Brook in the recruiting office. It's great for us because we get to visit him once in awhile.

Hows the Kioti doing? Many hours on it? I'll have a look around for those old motors. I've seen them around. I'll snap a few pics and email them to you when I find them and I will find them. :D

Great hearing from you buddy.

I used the Grote beeper. I find they last forever. That's about what I paid for the "Rain Tracker". The problem with installing them is there's no instructions for hooking them up to a tractor so it takes a bit of thought to get them working. I guess the worst that can happen is that you let the smoke out of the box if it's done wrong

Paul, as usual your workmanship is terrific!!! I do have a question though. With the enormous amount of snow that you get is the switch protected from heavy accumulations of snow or ice that might jam the switch in either the open or closed position? Keep up the good work and thanks for the pics of your products.
